Vehicle Description
Here is a really fun little sports car, a 1990 Mazda Miata with a Greddy turbocharger. This car is reliable, economical (34 mpg), and has working air conditioning! It also has power windows and power steering. It starts easily, runs well, and is a blast to drive.
Let's talk about the performance stuff first - this car has been fitted with a Greddy turbocharger kit. The turbo has been on the car for just over 15k miles, and several upgrades have been done to ensure reliability and further the performance. An intercooler has been added to cool the intake charge, and a Turbo XS blow-off valve was plumbed in as well. The fuel system includes a Walbro 190 lph fuel pump that replaces the stock pump in the tank. It feeds a set of tan-top fuel injectors from a 1.8L Miata, and is controlled by a Vortec fuel pressure regulator (raises the fuel pressure under boost conditions). A boost gauge was added to the dash to keep an eye on pressure levels. The exhaust consists of a Jackson Racing high-flow catalytic converter and a Mazda Competition cat-back system (made by Bosal). To handle the extra power, an ACT high performance clutch was installed about 10k miles ago.
The suspension consists of stock springs mounted on Bilstein shocks. This setup both rides and handles very well. Brand new Falken ZE-912 Ziex tires are mounted on 15" TSW wheels, and the car also has cross-drilled and slotted brake rotors. The car has a proper Mazda AGM battery.
The engine is healthy - it runs evenly, no missing, no valve noise, etc. It doesn't burn oil, although it does have a slight leak. It runs cool, with no overheating issues. The timing belt, water pump, front seal, etc were changed 5000 miles ago. These engines are based off the 323 GTX engine, and are well-suited for turbocharger use. They have oil squirters to cool the pistons, strong connecting rods, etc.
The body of the car is in good overall condition with no rust or dents. The paint is smooth and shiny and the car looks good from a short distance, but has several obvious scuffs and scratches. The soft top is in good condition but the rear plastic window is cloudy and cracked (the windshield is cracked as well). The headlights work properly. The doors, hood, and trunk open and close easily. The power windows go up and down quickly.
The interior of the car is in good condition as well. The seats have no rips or tears, and are very comfortable. An aftermarket D-cut leather steering wheel has been installed, this makes the car feel even more like a go-kart when driving. The boost/vacuum gauge has been mounted above the heater controls in the center of the dash. A Pioneer CD player is nicely installed and works well. There are speakers in the doors and in the headrests of the seats. A custom shift knob and leather shifter boot dress up the center console.
Overall this is a great car. It runs and drives great, and it gets excellent fuel mileage - 34mpg. It handles like a go-kart. The air conditioning blows cold. Most importantly - you can get in it and drive it everyday! However, there is room for improvement should you wish to tinker: a new plastic window in the soft top, a slight oil leak, some scuffs in the paint, etc. None of these prevent you from enjoying the car immediately.
Included with the car are a clean Colorado title and the car's last emissions test report (which it passed easily).
The hardtop shown on the car in the last few pictures is NOT included - However, it is available to the high bidder for an additional $700. It is not in pristine condition (some light damage on the front corners and scratches in the paint), but has a defroster, headliner, and is in good usable condition.
Overall this is a great car, and I'm sure its next owner will thoroughly enjoy it.
