Vehicle Description I am selling my 1979 rx7 in very good condition! VIN# SA22C519886 The bad, Car started blowing smoke after I pulled all the emmisions equipment off it. It runs rich!!! It did not blow smoke before that! It does it at start-up for a minute, and leaving a stop light, occasionally. It loads up. I don't notice it when i'm driving along the freeway. It likes to be driven!!! I believe the carb needs a rebuild, or an aftermarket set-up put on. I have researched it as much as possible. this is not why in selling the car!!! There is a couple of very small dings next to the gas fill. a couple of dings here and ther, but over all the body is in very good condition considering the age of the car. The drivers seat needs minor repair to the bottom cushion. Carpet has a tiny bald spot both shown in pictures. The antenna does not go up and down, just needs mast. and speedo does not work properly, needs cable. Good, Car is in overall good condition, and emmisions exempt in Washington state! The car reads just over 56,000 on it. paint is 10 years old. All new tune-up parts, New hatch shocks header, good tires, Cd player I put in after I took mine out, Boston accoustic front speakers. I put 6x9's in the back I am keeping, but will leave wires so you can wire up the stock spot speakers. I can't say enough good stuff about this car. It would make an excellent restore project or daily driver as is. It has been my daily driver for about a year. I bought the car from the very short time second owner. Everything except what is listed in the bad works. Headlight motors work great, rear hatch release still works, all lights work. Even the rear defrost works. if you have questions please ask before bidding. I will gladley answer any questions to the bets of my knowledge. This auction is for local pick-up only. I will not ship this car unless you make the arrangment, and make %20 deposit, and pay the rest within 48 hours. Good luck bidding!! On Apr-30-08 at 11:12:45 PDT, seller added the following information: This car runs drives, and stops good. I drove 70 miles round trip to work everyday in it. These cars are going up in value like crazy. On May-05-08 at 12:00:38 PDT, seller added the following information: I have my car on Craigslist as well. Just got a reply to the smoke on the car. The motor is good, and has good compression. Here is what it said!! (Check and see if your choke is partly closed. (may be sucking oil with closed choke) The RX-7 is actually a 2 stroke motor. It injects oil in under the carb from the crank case to lube the rotors. There is actually a small oil pump and a very small tube injecting oil. That is why they removed it from the market for emissions from burning oil and blowing smoke. If I run mine with the choke on at freeway speeds it will smoke like crazy and will stop when choke is open. May also be a vacuum problem (cracked/broken vacuum hose) I have a 83 RX-7 and when the oil is old it 3000 miles it makes more smoke. Mine always smokes at start up some. Easy way to burn this out fast and cheap. Run the car at a high idle with the air cleaner removed. Take a squirt bottle on stream and squirt water into the carb keep the motor running with more throttle as needed. This water will super heat into steam and clean everything in the combustion chamber and beyond. Only use a few ounces of water. This with hurt nothing and work well. After it runs notice the rpm will increase. The rotary seems to like to run fast. I don't shift till 4K and always run at a higher RPM avoid 5th gear unless at 60+. Motor tends to run and get better gas mileage at 3K to 5K )
