|
1986 Mercedes 190D. This is the 5-cylinder 2.5 liter engine with automatic transmission, Sunroof, AC.
Non-turbo.
Mechanically good, cosmetically fair.
THE GOOD:
-Rebuit Automatic Transmission about 2 years ago
-New: alternator, Bilsteins shocks front and rear, battery, Master belt within +- last 2 - 3 years
-Consistently has gotten 35-38 MPG over past ten year.
-Have most receipts from day one ( bought from neighbor).
-At least one-, maybe two extra sets of keys- these are very expensive keys
-No accidents in history.
THE BAD:
-Rust around passenger wheel well area and both rockers- had estimate for $1k-1,500 for repair before clear coat starting peeling
-Paint clearcoat suddenly starting to peel this past winter- mostly on trunk lid and near gas filler neck.
-AC not working- fan blows but not cold- havent had it looked at yet.
-Exhaust had leak which was patched
--Interior is not bad, but has hairline cracks in front dash face, and one molding piece is shrink-curling ( that should be an easy fix)
-WIndow tint is peeling or shrinking in some areas
-Driver seat has wear at entry point and one hole in seat.
-Some oil on ground after parking- I think its tranny but not sure. Not a lot, just something to keep your eye on.
OTHERWISE:
-May need brakes soon
-I should have all receipts from first day of ownership
-I have a number of extra oil filters and some miscellaneous parts
