Vehicle Description
1965 Mercedes-Benz 300SE coupe. Built June 18, 1965. Sunroof. Single (bucket) seats. Becker radio (non-original) included. Automatic antenna (working original Hirschmann 6000H) included. The good is that this is an extremely rare, one of 3,127 made, W112 Mercedes made. It is distinguished by the air suspension and 300 engine. Otherwise, parts are mostly interchangeable with parts from the W111 chassis. The car will stand on its own by filling the air reserve tank behind the left front headlight assembly. The rear will stay up 48 hrs and the front, because of its weight, perhaps 12 hrs. No blocking was needed to transport it home on a car hauler. If you will be hauling it a long distance you will want to have an air compressor with you. The bad is that the engine does not yet turn over thus rendering the air pump temporarily useless. The car has been nicely repainted but has some rust coming through near the corners of the sunroof and the bottom edge of the trunk lid. This is a good car for a Mercedes hobbyist or enthusiast. The parts of this car a quite valuable. The distributor cap is in a separate box. It was removed, along with the air-gate linkage to facilitate soaking the pistons with penetrating oils. The interior leather is not original but very nice except for some discoloration caused by water. The rear package shelf and the front kick-panels have had holes cut in them for (what were they thinking?) BMW speakers. The radio opening in the dash has been enlarged. The reserve is low. Less than the sum value of the distributor cap, Hirschmann antenna and leather seats. All questions welcome.
