The Mercedes ML-Class may be loaded with creature comforts, but this high-class SUV is as capable off-road as on. While 99% of ML owners will never venture off-road, it's still nice to know this Low-Range capable SUV can help you traverse mudholes, snowdrifts, beachfronts and an occasional steep dirt hill if you need to. On road, however, is where this Mercedes really shines. Our 2005 ML350 runs and drives like new and it looks almost new too. It doesn't drive or feel like an SUV, but feels more like a luxury sedan. Exterior and interior enhancements on the ML350 mark the 2005 model year. Our 2005 features the Special Edition package, which replaced the 2004 Inspiration Edition. The Special Edition features body-colored running boards, unique 17-inch wheels, a power dome hood, silver-painted chrome grille and smoked taillamp lenses. It also comes with Mercedes-Benz's Electronic Stability Program (ESP) stability system. The M-Class is built in Alabama and Mercedes insists the M-Class is a true offroad vehicle with full-time 4WD and a low range. Exterior The four-door M-Class is 182.6 inches long overall and rides on a 111-inch wheelbase. Body-on-frame construction is used and our ML350 has a one-piece liftgate at the rear that is easy to lift and close. Alloy wheels hold 17-inch tires at all four corners and the Xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights keep you fully in-touch with everything thats ahead. Our ML350 features, leather interior, power glass sunroof, BOSE audio, power-operated cargo area glass, and more. Interior Our M-Class seats up to five occupants on front buckets and a three-place 60/40-split rear seat that folds to expand cargo space to 81.2 cubic feet. The traditional Mercedes dashboard layout is augmented by a 5-inch LCD display with touch controls in the center console that operate the climate and audio functions. Under the Hood The ML350 carries a 232-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 mated to a five-speed-automatic transmission, which features Touch Shift manual gear selection. The permanently engaged four-wheel drive has a Low-range gear too. Standard enhanced traction control works while accelerating and when going uphill or downhill (in Low range). Safety For the ultimate in safety, All-disc antilock brakes, door-mounted side-impact airbags for the front and rear seats, and side curtain-type airbags are standard. The company's Tele Aid emergency communication system can summon help, and it kicks in automatically to call Mercedes' roadside assistance center if an airbag deploys.
