Up for auction we have a 1982 Mercedes 380SL Convertible that vanished from existence at one time then reappeared years later. We have no history on this car at all and can only tell you we recently picked this unit up at a Government auction. This car has a reissued vin plate from the State of PA and comes with a clear title that matches the vin#. We will try our best to describe this car with its appearance and mechanics as best as we can. This Mercedes seems to run fair and shift through all gears with in the 12 miles that we have driven it with no problems. It looks like everything under the hood is original and we feel like it could use a good tuneup and oil change also a full tank of gas. When we first drove it it was smoking black smoke a little then cleared up after a couple minutes. We also noticed the exhaust has a couple holes in it before the muffler.The body is in fair to good shape for the year however we noticed some rust around the jacking areas and inner fender wells on right front see pictures. There is some rust showing on left rear quarter panel also seen in pictures. Floors and door jambs seem solid and under hood from what we can see, but did notice in trunk were tie down is mounted was ripped out from tying down to tight with tow chain. The interior is in nice shape only needing some cleaning. We have not tried to get to the convertible top to work due to not having experience on how it works. Feel free to tell us how it works and we will gladly check it and take pictures for you. We would not be afraid to drive this vehicle anywere it seems to run ok, but would suggest having it towed untill you give it a tune up and go over it mechanically brakes etc you decide.Any questions feel free to email us and we will try to answer them, but please remember we have no history on this car and would suggest you run a carfax.Thanks and good luck bidding.
