Vehicle Description
This McClaren '85 Mercury Capri was discovered in my buddy's neighbors back yard. Story has it that it was parked back there for some time with a car cover on it. With the kids and Family life , there just is not enough time to work on her and give it the attention it needs. Even though there is NO rust on the body at all , the paint is faded and will need a fresh coat. No signs of any bodywork ever done . There is a small hole in the trunk the size of a 50 cent piece.( Nothing major or serious) The interior is all there but will need a serious good cleaning and some parts replaced like the wood trim in the dash. The 5.0 engine does turn over ( not seized) but will not start due to the old gas in her. Everything on the car is factory original , #'s matching including the McClaren gold rims. (Value $200. Ea.) She's an automatic and the top is removable and is in v-good shape. Floor pans are solid and the dual exhausts look new . Window glass all good also. The front air dam will need a replacement as well as the front drivers side exterior windshield moulding trim. If you enjoy working on these sports cars and know your way around a shop this could be a neat car to clean up and restore. ( Wouldn't take too much ) She's light and only weighs 3305lbs. They ONLY MADE 257 convertibles. You don't see too many of these around anymore . Make no mistake , this car is RARE and a collectible to some Ford guys. I will attempt to buff out the paint and maybe present a NEW Photo mid week , so stay tuned...............and happy bidding.
