Vehicle Description
A classic beauty from the early days of Nascar. This 1964 Mercury Marauder Montclair has been the prime example of endurance thru defeat.
THE ENGINE of the car is a massive Ford 390ci-2Barrel V8. Some tender loving care is needed for this car to puuuurr again. This car has 98% all original parts, but is in need of some additional inspection and work. Gas tank is in need of a cleaning, and brake lines plus the fuel lines will need some attention. The engine cranks over, but does not have any fuel to start up. The radiator fluid, and oil have been drained and replaced. I have a new fuel pump ordered, and will be arriving shortly. Gaskets on the carb, and valve covers have been replaced, as well as the fuel line from the pump to carb.
THE ELECTRICAL seems to be fine. Installed a new battery and instantly all the lights worked. Interior, front and rear lights all turned on. I have new fuses, but have been unable to install them at this time.
INTERIOR is complete with origional clock, radio, and seats. No rips in the seating. Doors shut with authority. Carpeting needs to be re-glued but is still in good condition. No cracks in the windows, and seals are still pretty good. Steering wheel has the expected wear of being over 40 years old.
BODY of the car has just a couple small paint chips, and some small surface rust. For the most part the black exterior with silver trim is in great condition for its age. The trunk even shuts perfectly. I have replaced 4 of the 6 rear brake lights. The last two are still in pretty good shape.
CAUSE FOR SELLING is due to a recent burglary which has forced me to up and move. Cant bring the car with me, and cant afford to finish what I started.
THE HISTORY of the car can only be traced back to 1988. The owner at the time traded the car into a dealership where it was bought by an employee. This employee owned the car for 12 years until he sold it to a good buddy. This new owner then decided to store the vehicle in a shipping trailer for 5 years until his sudden death. The former employee owner then repurchased it, and left it in a gravel parking lot until I found the neglected vehicle in January of this year. Since then, I have been working on the car in a quiet country driveway.
Contact me for additional information. I hate to let this gorgeous car go, but hopefully you can finish what I started.
