Vehicle Description The Vehicle..........1998 Mercury Mountaineer All-Wheel-Drive SUV in overall great condition. This SUV looks great, runs well, and has a completely clean Carfax report. Features include all wheel drive, 5.0 liter engine, automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, ice cold air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, cruise control, tilt steering wheel, delay wipers, am-fm cassette stereo with CD, alloy wheels and much more. It's Condition..........The engine runs smoothly with no skips, noises, or vibrations. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, and all other mechanical systems seem to function properly. The exhaust is a little loud and should be serviced soon. The interior is good. There are no worn, torn, or badly stained areas on the seats, carpets, or headliner. The cloth seats are soft and comfortable. The center armrest is present but dislodged. All other interior panels look good. The paint and body are excellent. There are no big dents, rusted areas, or serious scratches on the body. The paint appears all original, and has an good shine. This SUV would look great if you spend the money to have it professionally detailed. Driving the vehicle..........Driving this Mountaineer is a smooth and pleasant experience with a powerful engine, comfortable interior and great stereo. There are no shakes, rattles, or vibrations, and the ride is just as smooth and comfortable as you would expect. While I DO NOT represent this SUV to be in "like new" condition, or anything close to that, you could drive it just about anywhere and reasonably expect to get back home without any problems or drama. Remember, you will get a little better gas mileage in a Civic or Focus, but in this part of the country we have 5 months (Nov to March) of possible snow, slush, and slippery steep roads. I'd feel better in this All-Wheel-Drive Mountaineer when that weather hits! What is it Worth..........Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com) lists the retail value of this car with these miles and options as $6650. The Private Party value of this car in good (not excellent) condition is $4875. NADA and Edmunds list similar values. But the only value that really matters is what you are willing to pay. So what do you think.......is $3000 an EXCELLENT price for this car? I think so too. Since this is a NO RESERVE auction, this Mountaineer will sell to the highest bidder regardless of price! Things you should know..........I try hard to accurately describe all of my cars. Most are trade-ins to local new car dealers. I have not owned or driven these vehicles as my daily transportation. The description is the result of a short test drive over varied road surfaces and a visual inspection while the vehicle is parked. I am not a mechanic and I do not guarantee that my description of problems (if any) is accurate or complete, but I try very hard to be thorough and honest, and my reputation reflects that effort (email me if you have questions). Please remember that these are used vehicles and you should expect a normal amount of wear for the year and mileage, but any serious known flaws would be noted above. Local bidders are encouraged to see and drive this vehicle prior to bidding. The Details..........Please leave a $200 deposit at the end of the auction through ebay checkout and Paypal. The balance is due within 7 days in cash, wire transfer, or certified check. Bank checks are ok, but the money must clear my account before the title or vehicle are transferred. We add a $180 doc fee to all vehicle purchase. The vehicle is being sold AS-IS, with no warranty expressed or implied. That means that any problems that are discovered or develop after you take delivery of the vehicle are not covered by the seller in any way. Shipping is the responsibility or the buyer, but I'll help in any way that I can. If you plan to drive the car home, you will need to bring your own license plates.
