1998 Mercury Sable LS, 24V DOHC Engine, in good running condition. No Reserve. It will go to highest bidder. I will not cancel auction or sell before auction closes. The 'mag' rims shown mounted on this car do not come with it. The steel rims that come with it are show in separate photos; I have a set of taurus hub caps if you want them (shown in photo). Inspected, good body. All options listed above, nice leather in good shape, power everything. This is the 24 V DOHC engine; which is really strong with lots of power. It is really a very luxury car. If you have only been in a ford taurus and not the higher end loaded Mercury Sables then you need to as this is a totally different car. This car has a KBB of $2425 for a 'private party sale' with all the options as it is in 'good' condition by KBB definition Here is the detailed history of the car: My boss bought this car new and had it for 5 years, putting 118,000 miles on it. He was in sales and drove mostly highways around CT. He sold me the car in 2003 and I have used it since. He gave me a stack of service records an inch thick which I still have. I was a mechanic earlier in life so I took exceptional maintenance care of it (as with all my cars) and I keep complete service log of everything I did; so you will have a complete paper copy of the life of this car. It had normal oil changes (4000-6000 miles) when my boss owned it (usually jiffy lube); and I changed it every 3000 - 3500 since then. The rest of the service work my boss had done by the dealer; so it has all the regular PM's at the various mileage intervals. Except......It had transmission fluid changed at 40,000 and then not again until I bought it. I changed it at 118,000 miles right when I got it, and it was clear from the fluid that was just too long (major issue with the Taurus Mercury is the tranny needs regular fluid maintenance.....). Anyway, it made it to 150,000 miles and the tranny went. Since the vehicle was strong otherwise I spent $3000 and put in a new transmission (completely new, with all updates, not a rebuild). This came with a new engine computer as well. I have changed the tranny fluid out at 180,000. The tranny is still strong; shifts nic and tight. The only other major maintenance was the fuel pump, which went around 175,000 miles. wheel bearings and one half shaft around 140,000. It has has 4-5 brake jobs and at least 3 sets of tires. I did the plugs about 10,000 miles ago. It could use a set of plug wires. The rear struts are pretty shot; but it rides so heavy you do not notice (unless you go on a bumpy road) This is a great car. It runs well. The engine light is not on, and has no codes. It has always passed inspection. It comes with a spare air filter and maybe one or two other regular maintenance parts that I never installed. The AC work; but could probably use a charge. It used to run very cold all the time; but just this summer, it blows cold on warm days; but only cool on hot days. Ever since I got it, if it was really really hot out (like over 95); and driving a long way at 75 mph; the engine temp would run hot so I would cycle the AC (or have to slow to 70). I suspect that it did that new.....but not sure... It has been in 2 minor bumper accidents. Both were other drivers fault and they paid so both have been fixed. There are 3-4 little dings in the usually places (shopping cart height) and several little rust spots (mostly down low around wheel well, two on hood). The interior is clean, no tears in the leather, always had footmats, so no wear in carpet. There is one little electrical 'glitch' about 10% of the time; the door ajar light comes on (even though the door is closed) and the door locks pop up. If you push them back down manually they stay down. This is only while driving. It has been that way since my boss had it; dealer was not able to fix. The front tires have 50% treat; the backs 70% (time to rotate). The brakes were all done (rotor and pads) within the last 15,000 miles and are good for at least another 15k (depending on how you drive) It obviously has high miles. From talking with other sable owners, the 24V DOHC engine runs a very long time when maintained. And with the new tranny this may just keep on going. I am an independent contractor now and drive long distances; so I can't afford to have any issues getting to a site on time; otherwise I don't get paid.... So I bought a newer Sable and am selling this one. All that said, this car has over 188,000 miles so it is being sold running on day 1, but it is sold as is; where is; no warrantee, no guarentee, no returns of any kind. I am still driving it for the next week while it is listed (currently 188,000, should have less than 189,000 when sold). I did this so it can be dropped off after the sale. Once the car is fully paid for, I will drop off within 50 miles for an extra $200 and $4 per mile after that (this may seem high, but I value my time, and my wife will have to drive out to bring me back so it is 2X time). If you prefer, you can come pick the car up and there will be no extra fee (I would actually prefer that). But you will need you own plates or trailer (or take you chances) as my plates will come off at that time. Terms of Sale: Within 48 hours of auction close a deposit of $200 is due via paypal (or in person in cash). The balance is due within 7 days, in cash, at time of pickup. No checks, no cashiers check, no paypal for the balance; just good old cash. If you want the car delivered (as stated above); the deal has to be done within 5 days of the auction close as I need to switch the plates over to my newer car. The $200 is to cover the auction listing fee, final bid fee and all that other fee stuff that ebay charges. This is non-refundable; so if you don't show up for a week or decide you don't want to buy the car you loose the money. This is because it will cost me this to postpone the sale, relist etc etc. Sorry to be a pain about this; but I have sold 2 or 3 cars on ebay and have had issues with deadbeats who bid and deposit but never come pick up the car......or change there mind after a week and then I am stuck wiht relisting fees etc. Again, the 'mag' rims shown do not come with it....it comes with the steel rims shown in the separate photos only. Happy bidding, email with questions We can arrange a test drive or visit before bidding ends if desired
