You are bidding on a 1968 Morris Cooper S in very original condition. This car was assembled in the Australian branch of the Mini branch of BMC. Australian Cooper S cars retained the Mark I style body with the small tail lights and external hinges all the way until the end of Cooper S production in 1971. There are other subtle differences between the Australian and UK-assembled versions, including roll-up windows with vent windows on the Aussie version. The interior of this car, including the carpets, is in excellent condition, and would need nothing except cleaning and vacuuming. The only rust is a minor hole in the battery box, which shows up in the pictures. There is no other rust nor rust repair anywhere (except for some very minor surface rust where the paint has worn off, also seen in the pictures.) The car has the correct drivetrain with remote Cooper S shifter, 1275 cc Cooper S engine with 2 extra head bolts, correct power brake unit, correct instrument panel and gauges, etc. The wheels are aftermarket Minilite style, which is very commonly found on these models in Australia. The previous owner in Australia removed the two gas tanks to clean them out as a beginning to a restoration, but he never got any farther. Both gas tanks are present, as shown in the pictures. The hydrolastic suspension system is in excellent condition throughout with no leaning to one side or the other. I don't believe there is anything missing from this car that should be there. The car has not been started or driven for 7 or 8 years, but the engine does turn over easily. I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. Georgia does not issue Titles for cars over 15 years old, but buyer will be given a Georgia Bill of Sale, as well as a GA Proof of Ownership Certificate, which together will allow obtaining a Title in those states that require one.
