Vehicle Description
1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Coupe
*** PROJECT CAR ***
This is a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass “S” Holiday Coupe up for auction. Originally purchased from the East Coast as my personal project car, this “Cutty” had a lot of issues with rust that had to be immediately dealt with. The first step in rebuilding the vehicle was to find the right person that could be up to the task of fixing all of it’s issues. Having worked on TLC’s “Overhaulin’”, I knew I could count on an all around GM Guru that I had met on the show.
The first task was to break everything apart and go “frame-off” with the project. Next, everything was stripped of paint so all of the rust could be revealed. That being done, the next task was to replace EVERYTHING bad, a monumental task, to be sure. At this point, the 1) quarter panels have been replaced, 2) the floor pans have been replaced both in the cab and in the trunk, 3) Trunk lock and marker lights have been filled, 4) Firewall has been patched and smoothed…..all told, $15,000 of Labor, Metal Work and replacement parts have gone into this project, but it is ready for filler and sealer.
Metalwork Status: Deck lid, doors, front fenders are primed and ready to be blocked. 442 Hood needs to be stripped of paint and worked. Floors are complete and main body is ready for filler and sealer.
Major Addditions:
1) Fully stripped, blasted and powder coated frame. (Cost: $750)
2) Brand New Hotchkis TVS Racing Suspension already installed. (Cost: $1800)
3) Brand New Currie Enterprises 9” Rear End w/3.70 Posi Differential. Powder-Coated and Installed. (Cost: $2700)
4) Brand New Baer Brake PBR 4-wheel Disc System w/ Black Silver Powder Coated Calipers, Installed. (Cost: $2300)
5) Core Support, Transmission Cross-Member have been Powder Coated and Brake Lines have been run on the Chassis.
Also included but not limited to is the following;
0. All Door glass, 1/4 glass, back glass
0. Good bumpers front and rear
0. Body and window trim
0. Rear bench seat
0. steering column
0. Dash assembly with cluster
0. New Steering ( Tie rods, drag link, etc)
Everything on this car has been done the right way and with care. Could you buy a complete car that may or may not run for less than I am selling this car for? Yes. Will it have hidden issues you may never know about? Yes, yes, yes. There is over $22,000 worth of work and parts into this car and it is in a state that you can see EVERYTHING. There are very few cars anywhere that you will get a chance to know exactly what you’re getting, especially with a vintage 40 year old car. If you have the enthusiasm to FINISH a car and don’t have the patience to start a restoration, this is your car…for sure. ALL of the hard work has been done and all of the biggest money has been spent.
Why am I selling? I am selling because I am moving out of the country at the end of July. I have loved this car and the idea of what it could become, but unfortunately, I cannot finish the project. I am looking for someone to recognize all of the money and hard work that has gone into it and will be willing to finish it.
If you have any questions feel free to email me directly and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability. rob_phillips68@yahoo.com
Thank you and happy bidding!
