An eye catcher to say the least the 1984 Hurst Olds Cutlass with its sleek body lines, distinctive paint scheme and good looks is the last in a line of true classics. The Hurst/Olds was a limited production car each time it hit the streets since 1968 with less than 16,000 produced total in the years that H/Os were built! Approximately only 3,500 in were built in '84 and only a small fraction of them with the factory T-Top option, simple math tells you they are quick to become a rare collectors item!
An awesome car to drive with its signature His Hers Lightning Rod Shifters and impressive, powerful performance as well as the comfort and luxuries the Oldsmobile Cutlass is known for...an incredible combination that puts the fun and pleasure back in driving! In the last six months the engine has been completely overhauled and its performance is just awesome, check these details out: Edelbrocks' Performer Plus package including cam shaft and lifters, new timing chain and gears and new intake manifold, all gasket seals replaced, a 3 angle valve job, all new emissions control components and its original four barrel carburetor was re-built. In the time I've owned the car I've also had the ball joints replaced, new sway bar links and bushings installed, new brakes all around, new water pump, new fuel pump, new alternator belt, and a new computer p.r.o.m. by HyperTech put in. The 200 4R Automatic transmission has been overhauled with a new torque converter and the new, factory original equipment Good Year Eagle GT white letter tires have less than 1,000 miles...to say the least this Hurst Olds is ready to go! Its original owners manuals and window sticker along with a folder full of records is part of the history that comes with this rare Hurst Olds Cutlass. This has been my road trip car as well as a local cruiser, after enjoying this Olds for almost two years I've purchased a new ride and only have room in the garage for one.
Beautiful to look at inside and out this Hurst Olds has been repainted and re-striped with its Metallic Silver and Black exterior having a brilliant finish. There is minimal paint on some areas of the window trim and a bit of a flaw just under the windshield trim at the cowl only noticeable upon close inspection. There a couple small chips on the ground effects at the front, nothing to take away from its overall impressive condition. Overall its condition is excellent throughout including the underside, the dual exhaust, floor pans and trunk pan. The factory Chrome Plated Super Stock wheels look great and the lug nut key is in the console. Loaded with upgraded factory options like T-Tops, a Delco-GM AM/FM Cassette with Equalizer and air conditioning this Hurst/Olds is top of the line. Please note as you will see in the pictures a new Sony CD stereo with detachable face has been installed with no changes to the stock dash and no wires cut as well as new speakers front and rear. The original, working radio is included in this auction. Its interior offers no disappointments with the factory Red Maple seats, carpet, dash, door panels and headliner all in impressive condition. The drivers seat has a very small tear on the lower back and the trim piece around the shifters has a crack on the right edge. The T-Tops are also in good shape, no spidering and no evidence of any leaking issues, the seals are in decent shape; the original T-Top covers are in the trunk. Some of the other options include power windows, power locks, power mirrors, tilt, cruise, power antenna, power steering, 3.73 rear axle ratio and limited slip differential. The power antenna is not in working condition nor is the temperature gauge, I've been unable to locate the proper harness connector needed for the coolant temp gauge and did not want to install aftermarket gauges leaving the decision up to the new owner. At times the RPM gauge shows double what it is actually at, I found a tech sheet explaining the issue with the cars paperwork along with the instructions to correct this but saw no need to do so. All of the other gauges, lighting and features are in proper working order, the car averages 18 mpg on the highway...nice feature! This 1984 Olds/Hurst Cutlass has its W40 code on the data plate as well as on the trunk sticker denoting the H/O option and its 9 for the eighth digit in the VIN code denoting the 5.0 V8 engine. This Olds will be sold with miles exempt due to the fact it is over ten years old, but the miles are indeed 119,301 with the five digit odometer showing 19,301.
