Vehicle Description
Attention getting 1971 Cutlass Supreme! It has an Oldsmobile Rocket 350 V8 engine with a 4 barrel carbeurator. Note that this is NOT just a plain Cutlass or Cutlass S, it is a Cutlass Supreme. We are building a new home this fall and are sadly forced to sell our summer cruiser car. We've enjoyed having it, taking it for rides on nice summer days and for the occasional trip to a car show but it has to be sold before this fall.
The car is very well documented, one of the things that attracted us to it. Included is the original factory owners manual, the original warranty protect-o-plate, and the original factory warranty.
The BEST document - we have the ORIGINAL FACTORY BUILD SHEET FROM GENERAL MOTORS!!!! YES, the original sheet from the factory with clearly matching VIN. It shows EVERYTHING about this car, even the plant it was in!!! This was a super suprise for us, the fuel gauge quit working last year, and we took the car to a local repair shop to have it looked at. They dropped the fuel tank and guess what was stuck up on the top of it!!! The original sheet!!! Please note that the picture of the build sheet is of a copy of the sheet, the original is very fragile and I did not want to risk any damage to it. We have the original in a plastic sleeve which the winning bidder will get.
The car is NOT perfect. My wife and I are not mechanics or car restorers, just a couple who grew up with these as our first cars and wanted to have one again. The carbeurator needs to be adjusted as it sometimes it starts hard until it is warmed up, then it turns right over and seems to run fine. It has an automatic transmission that shifts fine. The original radiator overflow bottle cracked and now there is a prestone anti-freeze bottle set in place. It works, but it really needs to be replaced with a new bottle because the antifreeze bottle looks like heck under the hood. The air cleaner is not original but looks kind of sharp as is. The headliner stiching along one seam has dry rotted, but it is just the stiching holding the two pieces of material together, the material itself is fine.
The carpet on the floor on the drivers floor needs to be patched/replaced as it too seems to be crumbly and the seats the same (as seen in the pictures we have seat covers over them now), but please see the pictures as they show better than I can try to tell. We also had plans to put in a nice/new stereo and speakers, and I removed the original back speakers and covering that sits on the ledge behind the rear seat below the back window, but then decided after talking with another Cutlass owner at a car show that we should not do that and leave the factory one in. You can see it in the pics, so it would have to be replaced. As seen in the pics, the paint job looks OK, but should be redone to get it back to original colors if they would want to get serious about restoring it to original. The red and black colors does get attention as is though!
The good. The car passed Wisconsin State emissions this past year. Wisconsin has very strict guidelines and it passed emissions and the cap check. As you may see in the picture, we have Wisconsin Collector plates on the car. We have a copy of the vehicle inspection report and that will come with it. The title is CLEAR, no liens, etc. We put a new battery and new tires on it last year. They are in great shape. We also had the brakes done and still have the receipt for that which you can have. The car goes down the road NICELY. You can take it at freeway speed and remove your hands from the wheel and it keeps a nice straight line. I took several pictures of the inside of the trunk so you can see NO HOLES, it is solid. So are the floors in both front and back seats , NO HOLES. The mechanic who found the build sheet looked underneath the body closely and he said it is very solid. It has the ORIGINAL factory radio which works fine. The car also has the remote electric trunk latch which is in the passenger glove box, again I tried to take a pic of it. The car is single exhaust but the car rumbles nice, it has a nice muscle car sound to it. The fuel gauge, speedometer, turn signals, headlights, and windshield wipers work fine. There is room on the dash for what I was told could be a factory clock if someone could find one someplace and have it installed. The car does not smoke when started or when going down the road.
Again, we are not car dealers and have tried to describe it best we could but the car is being sold AS-IS. It is a 37 year old survivor from Detroit that someone could spend a little time with and really have something special, or drive to work tomorrow. I have driven it to work (28 miles) numerous times this year. There is also a spare in the trunk and I have three extra tires/rims that I will have in the trunk. Those tires are shot, but the rims aren't bad and are the original factory mag type rims which could be kept or resold. We had one of the inserts on the rims pop out so used one of these.
There are a number of trucking companies that will transport the car, and we will gladly assist the purchaser with setting up shipping or pickup. Because of the scams on Ebay, we will insist on payment IN FULL in cash, wire transfer (preferred for both you and us), or certified funds before we will release the car. CHECK MY FEEDBACK, IT IS over 500 and is 100% POSITIVE, so bid with confidence. We have a reserve of $3000 on it. This is the amount of the down payment we must give the builder to get the plans on our house started. Based on the other Cutlasses that have sold on Ebay by buyers with little or no feedback and very very short descriptions and few pictures, this one sure should sell for much more than reserve.
Please go ahead and email any questions to me that you may have. Thanks, SK.

I've had several questions about the car asking about the glass and frame. All the glass in the car is fine, no missing glass, no cracks, no chips, and is all original to the best of our knowledge. Tailights, headlights, directionals, etc all work fine. The frame is solid, no rust holes, etc. No strange noises, etc. when driving it or if you run over a bump or railroad tracks. Take a look at the CRAZY prices others are asking or trying to get for their Cutlass cars. While this car isn't perfect, it runs, you can drive it to work, and has the full paperwork from the factory and manuals for a fraction of what some others are trying to get for their car. Feel free to email any other questions you may have. I will be out of town Thurs afternoon to Sunday morning, but will answer any questions I can as soon as I can. Thanks for your interest.
