Vehicle Description
This auction is for a 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Coupe. Please forgive the pictures, it was dusty from sitting in the garage. It is the first car I ever owned. My father bought it for me in 1984 even though I didn't receive my drivers license until 1987. It was purchased new in Hattiesburg, MS and has lived in Hattiesburg, Jackson and Laurel for it's entire life. I have most of the original sales papers, manuals and sales literature for the year. It had 60K miles on it when purchased in 1984 and has been garage kept ever since. It now has 98K miles on it and has not rolled over yet for the first time.
The Good is the car was professionally restored in the early 80's before we purchased it. It runs good, drives good and still turns head everywhere it goes. The interior still shows great and car has won many trophies over the last 20 + years. The glovebox hides a am/fm cassette with an amp and it has new speakers front and rear. The tires have less than 500 miles on them and included is a set of brand new wide white bias plys mounted on rims painted to match for shows. Included with the car is a parts car which has the engine and transmission mostly complete and some good body panels but not many. Also included is a factory power steering and power braking unit which can be added to this car. Included is a dealer under the dash a/c unit and a torn down extra engine.
The Bad is the roof sustained some minor damage due to a shed collapsing, the paint shines up well but has chips and nicks due to years of driving, both front quarters have rust bubbles at the bottom (I got an estimate from a body shop I have done many cars with and to completely refurbish the exterior and repair dents and rust will cost around 1500 to 2000) the windsheild has a discoloration bubble on the lower drivers side, the headliner looks OK but needs to be redone for shows and the fabric roping around the doors interior has frayed near the carpet on both drivers and passenger, the trunk needs a good cleaning or the lining replaced, the rear bumper has a place about 3 inches where the chrome cracked and is visible, the rear main leaks a small amount of oil. The vaccuum wipers don't work well as they usually didn't. The drivers and passenger door window (originals) have cracks in them and need to be replaced.
I hate to part with this car but it hasn't been driven regularly in many years. I drove it today and it performed perfect and drove as it always has. I am liquidating my toys and cars that I no longer have time to car for and want someone to get them who will love and enjoy them as much as I have. Please check my other auctions. Please email with any questions. Good Luck.
