This very clean Oldsmobile has 97,000 origional miles. Rare to find today especially in this kind of shape the Firenza is a miserly drinker getting approx 28 plus mpg. This one has Automatic transaxle, power steering, vacuum assist power brakes, comfortilt steering column, fm stereo cassette, remote control side view mirror, four season air conditioner, soft ray tinted glass, and lo behold, the elusive GT trim package. That gives it two tone interior, articulated bucket seats with contrasting red piping, sport steering wheel, aluminum alloy road wheels with chrome trim, exterior bright work black out package, Left right exterior sport mirrors, full gauge instrumentation, special GT emblems, exterior GT striping. It's a lot of cool stuff and it's white paint has beed redone in places, it shines real nice. The folding down rear seat makes for a large cargo floor in back.
I aquired this unusual find about a year and a half ago from a customer at my auto repair shop who happened to be the real estate broker for the elderly owner. She was not going to be able to drive any more and the Olds was sitting in her carport. After a quick look I made a deal and a few minutes later it was towed back to the shop. The car was sitting since '03. It started up with out too much trouble, some new gasoline and a battery. It was quickly obvious that water was getting by the head gasket. The car is too nice to junk so I repaired it. I could have just slipped in a new gasket but always the perfectionist I elected to install an exchange head from Cylinder Head Exchange Corp. in Sun Valley, Ca. In other words this is a fresh valve job. Also replaced was a thermostat, timing belt, front crank seal, spark plugs, oil filter, coolant, pcv valve, and belts. The TBI fuel injection unit was cleaned and serviced and a new air filter installed. The R12 a/c system was evacuated, recharged, tested and is ice cold like only R12 can be. Remember your "father's Oldsmobile"'s air conditioner? Brrrrr. A new 70-6YR AC Delco battery was installed and the charging system tested ok. The brake system was inspected and the fluid flushed and changed. The hatchback door gas support props were replaced so you don't have to prop it up with a stick. The automatic transaxle fluid and filter was replaced. The tires are 5 yrs old but have not been driven on. I cleaned everything from top to bottom front to rear under the hood and under the whole car so it is emaculate for anyone's inspection. It has no leaks, great compression and the 1.8litre code "O" Pontiac designed OHC L4 TBI fuel injected engine starts right up. It runs smoothly quietly and makes a lot of power on a small amount of fuel. The front wheel drive transaxle shifts and works nicely. It has the origional Delco am/fm casette stero radio but I have not tested the tape player. The radio and it's four speakers works on both bands and it's digital display works. The only mechanical issue with this car is that the power steering is not offering assist untill it warms up. It's the old rack and pinion sticky spool valve problem. Once warmed up it works fine. Depending on the winning bid amount I may decide to `install a rebuilt rack for the lucky winning bidder.
Physical condition is, the headliner is falling down a bit, easy to fix, several options exist. The top of the rear seat backrest is a little sun damaged. No cracks in the dash. A dent is in the front left fender forward of the wheel house. I pulled it forward as best as I could with out making it look worse and did some touch up to the scratches there. The driver door has anothe dent in it that is hard to detect in the photos, obviously it is not too bad. Paint appears to have been redone at some point and was a decent job. It looks good. An emblem is missing off of the inside trim on the driver door and an "Oldsmobile" emblem is missing from the front upper valance panel. One of the turn signal lamps in front is cracked, obsolete and I have not found one yet. Basically it's in stellar shape for it's origional condition and almost 25 years of age. I worked hard to make it a driver and am confident you will like it.
