You are bidding on a 1972 Opel GT that has been driven less than 4,000 since it’s restoration in 1995. This car is not a project, it runs and drives extremely well. Own a piece of history and get many hours of driving rewards with this little hot rod.
History – The car was built for a famous Jockey back in 1995, using an extensive list created by the owner. The vehicle originally was built with a Chevy 350 installed but after several speeding tickets, we then converted the car to a V-6. The customer brought the car in for the V-6 work and never returned to pickup the vehicle. So after a year in storage; we applied for the title and kept the car. Over $30,000 was spent on this vehicle from 1995 until completed in 1998. The vehicle was stripped to bare metal and all possible problem areas were resolved. The car had 8100 original miles when we started and currently the speedometer reads little over 12,000.
Specifications:
Buick 231 (even fire) balanced and blueprinted, aluminum manifold with 2-barrel Rochester carburetor. MSD HEI distributor and coil with adjustable vacuum advance. Aluminum Godspeed two stage radiator with secondary cooling fan. TH350 transmission rebuilt to performance specs with HD torque converter and Lokar shifter in stock location. New suspension including Poly bushings front and rear, new ball joints and new bearings. 4-wheel disk brakes including 300mm front rotors and 262mm rear rotors with GM metric calipers and cable e-brake. New complete interior from carpet to headliner, new Corbeau Leather seats, new Mustang Racing wood steering wheel and Pioneer 4-speaker stereo system. New wiring including Kwik wire fuse panel. All exterior metal parts powder coated black and all light lenses and gaskets were replaced. The headlights rotate and turn on from the light switch in the dash. Everything is either new or rebuilt and I will deliver the car to the new owner with a new set of alloys and a set of transportation wheels.
The car runs and drives perfectly, very solid and fast which takes a bit to get used to. There are a few minor problems generated from being in storage; which can be ironed out in a couple of weekend. Mainly squeaks here and there, the wipers are not installed but included, the windshield has a small inside crack (repairable), few scratches in the front of the car and it needs a good detail.
The vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to close the auction if the car is sold. There are no warranties implied, the car is for sale "as is" and also "where is", buyer is responsible for transportation. I will however hold the vehicle for a buyer for a limited time after full payment has been made. The reserve price is very low so please don't email about the subject.
This is a unique little hot rod for someone with minor effort to convert it into a show winner.
