DESCRIPTION
Sir Alec Issigonis is famous for his creation of the Mini and a range of later cars for the British Motor Corporation (BMC), but he became known to the general public for designing the Morris Minor. It was designed as a vehicle that would combine many of the luxuries and conveniences of a great motor car with a price attainable by the working classes. The Morris Minor, when compared with competitor’s products in the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, excelled as a roomy vehicle with superior cornering and handling characteristics. An economy car with pep!
The 1959 Morris Minor 1000 featured here is finished in Old English White with Medium Blue Cloth interior. Other features include “traffic warden” turn indicators that pop out of the body when the turn signal is applied, Sony Explode CD player, DVD screen mounted to the underside of the dash, Inline 4 Cylinder engine with duel SU side draft carburetors, 3 speed manual transmission, disc brakes, novelty British license plates, spare tire, jack, duel side mirrors, and more. This well done vehicle was treated to a bare metal repaint last year by the previous owner that used the vehicle to promote his photography business. The DVD player would play a collection of photos for clients and the rarity of the vehicle really drew in a crowd.
A wonderful driving example of a rare and popular vehicle, the engine runs great and the transmission shifts with no issues. The duel carbs really work well to get the little car moving down the road in a hurry and thanks to the disc brakes she stops just as well, a true pleasure to drive. Collectors take note, the European collector car market is on the rise around the world, this is a wonderful opportunity to get into the game with an inexpensive, yet popular, investment grade vehicle.
