1947 Packard Custom Super Clipper Limousine body by Henney. Chauffeur driven with Divider Window. 148 inch long wheelbase. This is a export model with the speedometer and odometer reads in kilometers and shows 96,000 which would be about 59,000 miles, see picture. It was delievered in July 1947 to a Embassy in Mexico city, I have a copy of the paperwork. It made its return to the United States sometime in the mid 70's, never titled in the U.S., sold with Bill of Sale only. It was drivable before being stored in 1995.The Custom Super Eight 356 (most powerful production engine 1940-50) turns over free, it has been oiled and turned over in storage, some valves are stuck from sitting, the head will have to come off to free them up to get it running. Solid and straight, makes for a easier restoration, the car had been coated with preservative paint before storage, originally Black. It has very little rust mainly in the front door sill top on both sides, (not the rockers), flat metal, a simple fix. Front windshields, Divider Glass, Rear Window, and afew Wing window glass are good, the other flat glass have cracks. The chrome bumpers will need to be rechromed for show, the grilles do not look pitted, cast and stainless look in good shape for a driver or re-chome for show. The rear compartment interior is complete, it has original broadcloth, the door panels and side rear arm rests had plastic, on them but will need cleaning, the rear seat bottom and occasional seats were re-done in black vinyl, some areas will need replacement, some type of covering will be needed for the top of the rear seats, with some cleaning it can be used as a driver or use for patterns for restoration. The rear headliner looks useable if cleaned, the front headliner seams are split. The front chauffeur compartment seat has been re-done in black vinyl instead of the correct black leather, it could use a new steering wheel. Most all of the interior chrome looks good. There are quite afew options, Front radio, Front and Rear heaters, Chauffeur Call button, Owner Rear Radio Controls (missing trunk mounted radio), Rear Antenna, Rear Backup Light, Rear Bumper bar. Good trunk, see pictures. All systems will need to be gone through or serviced. The Clipper body introduced in 1941 was Darrin inspired and a radical departure from the past Packards, it had the most raked windshield of any production car up till the 1963 Corvette Stingray. Henney bodied 21st Series LWB Packards are over built, Big brakes, bearings, axels, etc., can cruze at highway speeds with power to spare. It should be able to be back on the road quickly, restored 35k+. A Very Rare and Historic find, Great addition to any Collection, a full C.C.C.A classic. Buy It Now Option!
