1952 Pontiac Chieftan Silver Streak Station Wagon For full restoration or parts. NO RESERVE Straight 8 cyl., 4spd Hydramatic, 91,402 mi., Backup light, W/S washers, clock, radio (missing), Grey striped cloth/black vinyl, Body# 1469, Style# 52-25820, Trim# 92, Paint# 5200. This is a “tin woody” with the wood grain lithographed printed on the embossed car body metal. The last “real wood” Pontiac woody was 1949, but wood accent trim attached OVER the all steel "tin woody" body was a deluxe option. The Pontiac and Buick versions are far rarer than Chevy’s because they were much more expensive and produced in smaller numbers. Also, most of these wagons were so useful that they were simply “used up” then junked. The Pontiac and Buick were a bit longer forward of the doors than a Chevy to accommodate the length of optional straight 8cyl engines plus 4spd Hydramatic automatic trans. option. But, from the doors back, they all share the same body panels which is a plus for availability. Chevy’s were less expensive because they only offered 6 cyl engines and a straight stick or two speed Powerglide automatic transmission option. This car was recently rescued from the woods in Maine. The shelter of the woods plus having all its windows intact until recently helped preserve it. It appears from the general condition that it may have been driven there and just parked. Of course, the critters eventually found their way in called it home, but it is still ALL THERE. Condition: Needs a full restoration or for parts. Engine is completely intact with all external parts (starter, fuel pump, carburetor air filter, generator, water pump, distributor, wiring harness, spark plugs etc. and it DOES turn over by hand. We have not tried to get it running. Gas tank is good, floors and frame are solid, even has original covers on rear springs. No signs of bondo or body work with original black paint. Rusted out rockers, rusty door bottoms, spare tire well and rear fender quarters. Engine bay is amazingly clean. About 3-4 pieces of stainless trim is missing but the rest is there with no serious damage. Roof dented in from a snow loaded tree limb but not rusted or rotted. Front seat and 2nd seat are there, 3rd seat has sacrificed its upholstery to keep critters warm Wood door arm sills are good enough for replacement patterns. Tailgate is rusted at bottom hinge, spare tire well is rusted out but holding a tire. All wheels turn except RF. Rear springs still have the original gaiters (covers) on them. Front bumper is complete but had to be removed to get car onto the trailer. It may not look pretty now but resto. cost is only half or less of its finished value. Comes with a New Hampshire “Title Exempt” Bill of Sale which other states must honor. We do NOT make shipping arrangements, please don’t ask or offer to pay us to do it.
