It's not often that an option package transforms a car. This one does-the 3800 V6 Performance Package. Available on Firebird Coupes and Convertibles, the package intensifies Firebird with the four-wheel disc brakes found on the V8-powered Formula and Trans Am (with ABS, of course). Then it adds wider performance tires to standard slick-looking 5-spoke wheels (measuring a full 16x8 inches). The steering gear is also borrowed from the V8 brethren, as is a version of the limited-slip rear axle. Finishing off the package are free-breathing dual exhaust outlets.
Soul is a tangible some-thing that eludes definition (some cars have it, most don't). Technology is what you make of it (some cars make more of it than others). Firebird is where they come together.
