Today up for bids is an original 71 Grand Prix Model J. The vehicle has been in dry storage for many years. The car has its original 400 with a 4 barrel carb. It is backed by a Turbo 400 Trans. This car has factory bucket seats, floor shift, and console. It also has factory AC! The interior is near mint with the exception of 2 light tears in the vinyl on the front seats. No cracks in the dash and even the carpet looks very nice. Afterall, this car has only 86,000 actual miles! It runs pretty good considering the motor has never been apart. The carb could probably use a rebuild as the car stutters just a little off the line when you stomp it down. The brakes work well and it stops evenly. The car does need its fair share of restoration work (don't they all). As seen in the pictures the rear window does have some rust and has been leaking into the trunk for a while. That is why there is rust in the quarter panels. The trunk floor also suffered a little from this. Underneath the frame looks really solid. The doors are solid a the front fenders are just starting to let go at the bottom. The vehicle is located in Lyndon Station, WI which is about 50 miles north of Madison right off the freeway. This car needs some TLC but it is all complete with the beginnings of a really nice show car. These are the numbers from the tag under the hood.
