GO TOPLESS
HARD TO FIND -- SOLID CAR
I am helping to sell this BEAUTIFUL 1969 Pontiac Tempest Custom convertible for a friend of mine. It has a Pontiac V-8 automatic that runs and drives great (unsure if 350 or 400). Goes down the road straight. Lots of thumbs up from people. Has newer dual exhaust and is fun to drive, especially on nice sunny days with the top down! Even better at night!!
Has been in this dry high-desert climate for 26+ years. Not a rusty car from the east. Trunk has some surface rust nothing major (see pics).
Good looking original Pontiac Ralley wheels and performance tires have low miles on them.
Interior is in decent shape. Seats and dash could use recover.
Top in good shape, tack strip needs a little love. Has GLASS rear convertible window.
Paint is a good 20 footer and can be enjoyed and driven until you have time to repaint. Car originally a gold color, then was painted bright red and now in light blue metallic but has accumilated some chips, couple dings and some spots need redone. Could use a repaint for show.
Would make a great solid canidate for a GTO clone.
Owner has PHS documentation. I will try to get ahold of them and post.
You are welcome and encouraged to come look at the Pontiac before bidding.
Email with any questions.
Thank You and Happy Bidding!!!!

The CUSTOM S was only manufactured in 1969.
In 1969 Pontiac Motors had 4 models that looked similar but were all different. These models were the Tempest, the LeMans, the GTO and the Custom S. Many people classified them all as Tempest's or LeMan's. For example a LeMans GTO, a Tempest or LeMans Custom S or a Tempest LeMans.
The only true way of telling them apart is by the VIN #
The first 3 numbers of the VIN for each model in 1969 are:
Tempest-- 233
LeMans---237
GTO------ 242
Custom S-235
Of the different styles of CUSTOM S (as with all cars) only a certain number were made.
According to Pontiac Historical Society (PHS)the numbers are as follows:
* 2 door Hardtop Coupe(23537)--46,855
* 4 door Sedan (23569)--------------16,532
* Sport Coupe(23527)-----------------7,912
* 4 door Hardtop(23539)-------------3,918
* Convertible(23567)------------------2,379
* Station Wagon(23535 23536)------6,963
For a total of 84,590 Custom S's
That makes this convertible pretty low production number with only 2379 made during this one year only S model!!!!
I wonder with options if this could even be a 1 of 1 !?!
