You are looking at and hopefully considering bidding on an easy project car, a 1977 Trans Am. This one is kinda rare as it has only 43k documented miles. A true survivor, all major components are original on this car. The car runs and drives and the body is solid. A good foundation for a father son project. The car was originally a silver (Paint code 77, Paltinum) on red car with standard interior, automatic, rear defogger, power door locks, rally wheels, and probably a few other options. It currently sits in "Moonshine" grey primer wit a black guide coat and looks pretty cool as it sits. I was going to restore the car but I just bought a 78 Y88 so this one has to go. The car has a clear Georgia title and comes with all of its owners manuals. This is suppose to be a two owner car. The guy I bought it from got it from the orginal owner and it sat in his wharehouse for years. I got it home, threw a battery in it and it fired right up. It doesn't stay running unless you give it gas, but the gas is old and the carb probably needs to be rebuilt. The motor has no noises when it running.
DRIVETRAIN: The engine runs good considering it has real old gas in the tank, and currently has the original exhaust, including the catalic converter, The engine is the original numbers matching XA motor and I believe the transmission is orginal also. It does have a small Holley carb on it. I would give the girl a tuneup and put some fresh gas in her as the gas is old (Been sitting for a few years). The transmssion shifts fine, but I haven't had it on the interstate. Once you go through the car and check everything, you can probably drive it as is. The brakes are good and stop the car, but once again, you might want to check them out. I would redone the engine compartment as it has the red and blue accents. The valve covers are not chrome, thay are painted. This is not a W72 car.
BODY: The car orginally a silver on red car, but now is in grey primer and looks good enough to drive as is. The car has all of its original sheet metal, but there is filler in the rear quarters and these should be redone (Or bondo up for a driver). I will include two GM patches, including the trunk extensions, so you don't have to use repops. The rear tail panel will need patches at the ends, due to the usual exhaust causing rust in this area. The trunk pan is nice, still has the factory mat and splatter paint and the space saver spare and canister are still bolted in place. All spoilers are present but a couple will need to be repaired (The front chin spoiler is still on the car as well, but needs work too). The passenger side flare was missing but I have one to go with it. The doors shut good (And have minor rust in them) and the front and rear bumper covers are good as well. The fender and hood are nice, as are the front and rear bumpers. The shaker is original and UNCUT. All the glass is good but does have a little overspray from the previous owners attempt to restore it. It will need a new battery as it goes dead after a couple of days. The previous owner was messing around with the wiring so this may be the cause (Bad ground). Grilles are good but should be touched up, as the chrome is still good.. The 15 X 8 snowflake wheels are nice but they will need new tires. If you want to replace the snowflakes with the original rally II's, subtract $300.00 from the winning bid. All body lines are good and either drive the car as is or do the final paint prep and shoot it. The car will need new weatherstripping and probably odds and ends, so keep this in mind..
INTERIOR: The interior is all orginal including the carpet and dust. It looks pretty good and is presentable as a driver. The dash has NO cracks but is a little faded on top. The dash bezel is nice but a little yellowish due to its age. This may clean up but I haven't tried it. It needs new carpet, console box lid, and headliner to be ready to go. I do have set of new carpet to go with the car, but its looks a like a darker red than whats in the car now.The rest of the interior is good. The speedo works fine and shows the actual mileage of 53k. All the gauges work, even the clock!. .Car has 40 PSI oil pressure when idling.
FINE PRINT: You must pick the car up in Warner Robins, GA (About 1 1/2 hours south of Atlanta). I may be able to deliver locally as I have a tow dolly, but ASK FIRST. I do have a transporter who is reasonable I can put you in contact with, but it is ultimately the winning bidder responsibility to arrange and to pay for shipping. The car is for sale locally and I have the right to end the auction early if it sells. There is a low reserve and it is just to cover what I have in the car.. A non-refunable deposit of $500.00 is due within three business days of the auction ending. Pickup will need to be accomplished within 15 days. If you need longer get with me FIRST before bidding. The car comes with a CLEAR Georgia title. If you need to talk to me my cell is 478-952-2463, but please don't waste my time asking me if I will give the car away. If you need more pictures let me know, but don't wait until there are 30 minutes left to ask. Your winning bid is just that, a winning bid. You are not bidding to come here and offer me a lower price, so make sure this is what you want before hitting that button. So there you have it, an easy project that you can drive while you restore it. But remember, this is a 30 year old car and there is no warranty. I think I have covered everything, but I may have missed something. Check back as I may add to the description and all questions will be answered in the Q A section. Good luck to all and remember, they are only low mileage one time.
