First I must stress that this is a project car. It is not quite ready to be driven very far. It is located in Central Texas. Please do not bid unless you plan to adhere to my payment rules. Downpayment due with 3 days and Full payment due within 10 days - no sad stories, no excuses and payment plans here. Up for sale is my 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. Car has a clear Title in my name and is located in Central Texas. Car is in needs a whole of a lot of minor work and TLC to get road ready. Good news is I put a whole lot of time and money into it and the major stuff is in good shape. I bought this car after it had sat outside for several years. The motor ran but was weak and it had lots of dry rotted interior parts and ugly wheels. The story I got on the car when I bought it is that the car hit a big rock in the road that took out the radiator, fan and alignment. It sat for years after that happened. Engine - I had the original 305 Chevy motor rebuilt professionally. It has a stock cam, bored 0.030 with all new pistons, timing chain, lifters, cam gaskets....etc. I had a set of 1987 Monte Carlo SS 305 HO heads rebuilt and installed. It has a aftermarket but stock-type intake manifold. Almost all emissions are removed except the converter. It has a earlier version HEI ingition and Quadrajet carburetor. Engine starts right up and runs very good at times and a little rough at others. Needs a little adjustments and I think it will be a good dependable motor. Under the hood are many new parts like a new radiator, some hoses, fan and other parts. I do have many of the original parts if winning bidder wants them like heads, pollution pump, distributer and electronic carb. Transmission and reareand info - tranny is a 3 speed tranny and it shifts and runs okay. It did not want to shift into 3rd sometimes but after some use it shifts better and better. I believe that it may just need to get used some - to work out the bugs and it will probably be just fine. The rearend is the stock drum-brake type. I belive that someone may have put in some higher ratio gears due to the RPM's seem a lot higher than what they should be with the factory 2.73's. It may also be due to something as simple as the lock-up converter is not engaging and just needs a switch. Brakes work - not super fantastic but they do work. Car needs alignment badly. Body - has many scrapes, surface rust, tears in the rubber bumpers and dings and minor damage. However, it is very restorable. Nothing is too bad, bent or damaged at all. Previous owner sanded and primed a few areas and they have surface rust - but not bad rust or bad body damage at all. Hood is a factory air induction type. I have most of the components for hooking up the air induction except I am missing the correct type air cleaner top with a hole. You could make one yourself very easy. Hood has some dings and is very restorable. Interior - Had a case of terrible dry-rot when I bought the car. Had to remove lots of plastic and panels and trash them. Since then I bought a set of nice seats out of a 1998 Trans Am. They look good with almost no wear or tear and the driver's seat is a power unit that works - just not hooked up yet. I have several plstic trim parts and a spare steering wheel coming with the car. The dash is cracked very badly and the car had no headliner and the carpet is dirty and ugly. Some gauges work but the speedometer was unhooked when I bought the car so the milage is not accurate. Interior has fair door panels and pull handles. Tach works as does heater, volt gauge, wiper (need blades). Headlights work but motors do not. I have not messed with them at all. You can crank them up manually and they work. Not sure of the rest of the exterior lights but most work....I believe. I bought several items for the interior that were in bad shape or missing like the console top, stock radio (not hooked up) and some plastic trim. Steering wheel is dry-rotted and I have a nice spare coming with the car. Suspension - I put 15 x 7 aluminum wheels from a later model Firebird or Trans Am. All new tires all around too. I put new shocks on the rear and the front struts probably need replacing. Car has stock factory exhaust system that is in fair shape except for the converter. I have taken it on and off a bunch of times trying to troubleshoot why the motor runs rough sometimes. It currently is all bolted up fine but leaks slightly around the converter. I would suggest getting a new converter. This old type never did flow good and this one my be semi-plugged.....I am not sure. Everything else looks good, original and stock and unmodified. Undercarriage is very nice and almost zero rust. Tires are all brand new and probably have less than 100 miles on each of them. All are great but the passenger rear has a very slow leak. No damage to wheels - they are nice. All glass is good. Power windows work but are wired together (by previous owner) due to a bad switch. I have one spare switch coming with the car. T-tops do not leak. Title clear and in my name. Brand new tags. Needs inspection. I highly suggest towing on a tow dolly or a trailer. Car has not been driven enough to check for good reliability or problems or any bugs. Biggest issues is the bad front alignment and the high RPMS at highway speed. All these problems make the car sound bad. Honestly is isn't too bad but it needs a lot of minor work or several items to be road worthy. I think it can be a good solid car with a reliable engine. Body has lots of minor flaws but it is pretty solid and straight. Very restorable.
