Here is the best deal in 356 Porsches right now, an excellent running
and driving car with a solid pan and longitudinal sections and in need of
nothing to be driven and enjoyed regularly. I have bought bare body
shells for 356 Porsches for close to my asking price on this running and
driving, complete car!
The engine runs very strong and has great compression. It does not
smoke or miss-behave in any way, not even any oil leaks! The transmission shifts
like new and there is no noise from the ring and pinion. The brakes work
perfectly and do not pull left or right when applied.
In 2002 and at 38,000 miles, the brakes were overhauled including
cylinders, hoses and shoes, new KONI shocks installed, and new sheet metal
including floor pan, battery box, etc...
In 2003 and at 40,000 miles the original engine was tossed and a 912
engine was installed with new 86mm pistons and cylinders and a full valve job.
Compression was set at 8.8/1 with a 1mm shim under each cylinder. At
this time the clutch assembly was replaced as well as a number of other
ancillary items.
From 2002 to now, the car has been well kept and properly serviced.
Anything that it may have needed from a new speedometer cable to overhauling the
oil temperature gauge and sending unit was done immediately and properly.
Everything works as it should and extra care was taken to make sure the
window regulators work smoothly, turn signals work, all lights and even
radio work properly among many other things.
The car has a terrible paint job that is flaking off here and there,
shows many sags and is very "thick". There is an excessive use of body filler
on the car mostly due to an inexperienced body man but I am sure there is some
old body damage hiding under that filler. The car has spent the bulk of its
life in California so I am not sure if it is rusty or if it has been damaged
in an accident. There is some minor rust bubbling in the bottoms of the
door skins.
I have complete records from as far back as 1979 when the car was in
CA, and in 2004, the car came to Vermont where it is currently located at my
shop at 462 Monkton Road, Vergennes, Vermont 05491. Vermont does not issue a
title for cars over 15 years old so this car is sold on a clean Vermont
registration which works as a title does.
We are a classic car repair shop www.rpmvt.com and sell many cars like
this per year. I can help arrange for shipping anywhere in the world if you
need assistance.
Should you like any further photos or answers to questions please feel
to contact me. I have many photos of the undercarriage and of the paint
flaws so feel free to ask.
