Body:
I purchased this rust free 1973 911T west Texas/New Mexico car in the early 1990's. On inspection the batteries had leaked and the front 1/3 of the suspension was replaced. No other areas of corrosion were found on the car. The engine, trans-axle, all glass, trim etc were removed and car was professionally resprayed in its original optional color Silver Metallic #936. All exterior and interior rubber seals were replaced. The car has NO modifications to the original factory bodywork (I.E. aftermarket fender flares etc. with the exception of a fiberglass front S spoiler). The car has a sunroof that opens and closes its full travel. All glass is factory tinted German with no cracks or chips. All exterior and interior lights (I.E. headlights, brake, turn signal, hazard, parking, underhood, backup, cabin, gauge etc) function correctly. Headlights are H4 and are 100% perfect. Windshield wipers function correctly. The chrome and and deco are very nice. No cracked lenses.
Suspension/Brakes/Misc:
Engine oil cooling: Lemke/Turbotrol thermostatically controlled cooler in right front fender, ducted for fresh air through horn grill battery box. When built in 1990's a new OEM master cylinder was installed as were turbo tie rods, front wheel bearings, 22mm FR adjustable sway bars, adjustable spring plates, rear Koni shocks, front Koni adjustable strut inserts, ventilated FR brake rotors, 21F 27R torsion bars, stainless brake lines and a front adjustable strut bar. The factory alloy front S calipers were rebuilt. The fronts wheels and tires are 7x15 with 195/60 Goodyear Eagles. The rears are 7x15 with 205/60 Goodyear eagles. All tires have 80% + tread left.
Engine/Trans Axle:
231 H.P. 1985 Euro Carrera engine type# 930/20 serial # 63F04175. I purchased this engine in the early 1990's with approximately 43,000 miles from a car that suffered a front cabin fire. The engine did not run at the time due to burned wiring. The engine was completely disassembled, all parts were checked for correct factory tolerances. All parts and components were well within factory specifications. The engine was reassembled with new OEM main and rod bearings, ARP rod bolts and nuts, OEM piston rings, valve guide and valve job. The engine was built to factory specifications with the exception of the fuel system which was replaced by a set of new/not rebuilt 46-IDA Weber carburetors and matching manifolds. The vacuum advance distributer was custom recurved and changed to a mechanical advance distributer to allow the use of 91% octane gas. Ignition system is a MSD 6AL with piggy back MSD r.p.m. activated interchangeable r.p.m. chip rev limiter. Exhaust system is comprissed of headers and Super Trapp mufflers.
The transaxle is a Euro-Carrera 915/69 with factory oil cooler and limited slip differential. The transaxle was partially disassembled and checked prior to installation. Also a new OEM clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and short shifter were installed.
Both Engine and transaxle have approximately 6,000 miles on them.
Interior:
Complete factory air conditioning with upgraded compressor. All the gauges function correctly even the clock! The only exception is the oil tank level gauge which seems to have a mind of its own, sometime it works sometimes not. The carpet, seats, head-liner have no rips or tears. Front seats are Recaro Design Sports with Recaro sliders. The interior also features Schroth seatbelts, Fittipaldi steering wheel with functioning horn, Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette player (yes I know but remember I built this car in the early 1990's), removable bolt in Auto Power roll bar with under chassis backing plate and a dash cap. I can not remember the condition of the original dash underneath.
Overall:
This Porsche was built by me in the early 1990's. It has only been driven approximately 6,000 miles since. All were street driven miles with the exception of no more than 6 PCA Driver Education Events. It is in overall very good/excellent condition considering the car was built 16 years ago. The car is not perfect and if I were to continue ownership I would do the following: Although the 46 Webers function ok as is I would consider a tune up to clean air fuel passage, set floats etc. Since they are only 6,000 miles old all shafts etc. are like new. The sun roof although functions needs minor adjustments as well as restretching reglueing of the head liner material on rear of panel. The rear license plate panel at very bottom needs slight straightening and repaint. This can not be seen unless you bend down and look. While stored someone dented the top of the drivers door. The dent is approximately 1"x2". The paint is not cracked and I honestly believe a good Body Repair man could easily repair it without paint touch-up. On the same door at the very bottom front there are 2 small bubbles in the paint they approximately 1/8" in diameter. I believe this is from repeated washing and not drying completely before parking. Also the drivers side rear top pillar has a bad paint repair. There was a small paint bubble that resulted from a clogged sun roof drain midway up the pillar. After I cleaned the debris/clog I took it to a local paint man who repaired area metal and repainted. He did a poor job and I have just lived with it. The front rubber Deco insert has shrunk 3". It has one or two oil leaks that do not affect function but are annoying.
Prior to this listing all the fluids and filters were changed. This includes the oil, transaxle, fuel and brake fluid. New spark plugs were installed. This is a very nice stock appearing long hood Porsche with performance enhancements matched to one another and not a hodge-podge of parts as so often seen.
