I have decided to sell my project car 'Stinky'. She is a 1969 911T Targa. I would like her to go to a good home, to someone that will finish what needs to be done to make her into a nice driving car.
A little history - Stinky came to me through a couple local friends in late 2005. She had been put in storage by her previous owner 17 years earlier. In that time, the gas tank had rusted, and water had gotten down through the carburettor to #6 and destroyed the engine. The interior was rather moldy smelling, and combined with the fuel varnish, she smelled pretty bad - thus 'Stinky'.
I have transplanted an engine and transmission from my other car, a 1970 911T coupe.
Wheels - 15x7 imitation Fuchs
Seats - Recaro
Engine - 2.2l T spec from a 1970 911T
Transmission - from the same 1970 911T
Clutch - almost new, less than 1000 miles on it
Interior - carpeting removed and discarded. Original door panels and vinyl covered trim are all out of the car, but are included with the car. Also have an extra set of plain vinyl door panels that are included
Dash - cracked and old. Included will be the dash and kneeboard out of the 1970 911T. The dash is not the correct type, it is a newer type, and is not cracked, but the previous owner of the 911T Coupe had painted part of the dashboard and kneepad a maroon color. This will have to be painted over.
Targa top - Functional, no major rips or tears in the covering, but it is dirty. Both latch handles are present.
Rust - Front pans are fine and may have been replaced at some time. Floor panels in the cabin have some surface rust, and a few areas are perforated (front driver's side, rear passenger side) but not brittle. These areas will need to be patched. There is a lot of surface rust on the undercarriage where the undercoating has flaked off, but nothing brittle. One area needs more attention - the base of the door jamb at the rear of the passenger door. It looks to me like water pooled there and rusted through.
Fenders - the front fenders are very good and straight. The rear fenders need replacing. The passenger side rear fender has a lot of body filler at the top of the wheel arch, the driver's side has a dent. I have a pair of rear fenders from a '73 that I was going to have put in place. These are included with the car.
Engine/transmission - as mentioned, the engine is a 2.2 liter from a 1970 911T. I do not know exactly how many miles are on the engine, but I do believe it was rebuilt at some point, and may need it again soon. It currently has Zenith carbs, and runs. The ignition is a ProComp copy of an MSD ignition.
Paint - the car is it's original color, light ivory, however the paint is in poor condition. It will likely need complete stripping and a new paint job.
I want to be as straight foward as possible. I'm not trying to dump this on anyone, I'm trying to give someone a good project. This car will not be a simple 'slap some paint on it' job, however, it is drivable as-is, so it can be a 'rolling project'.
