This is a very sharp car and it gets complements all the time. Runs flawlessly and quiet, like a sewing machine, very reliable, always starts right up. Does not drip oil, or burn oil. This is a very clean car, suitable for a daily driver. As you can see, the engine is “clean enough to eat off of.” The car rides and drives great, very smooth quiet and takes bumps well. Under acceleration, the V8 Rolls-Royce engine (somewhere around 400 inches) is powerful and smooth.
1980 was the LAST YEAR they made the Silver Shadow. The 1980 is considered to be the most valuable Silver Shadow, as they had worked out many problems and made numerous improvements to the Shadow. The car was entirely built by hand, and has painstakingly restored. I purchased it in non-running condition and had everything re-done, and put more money into it than I will ever get back out of it. One nice thing about this car is that you can drive it and it won't depreciate, because it has already gone down in value and can only go up in value now if well maintained. The interior smells like leather and the walnut burl trim, since I havn't smoked a cigar in that car in about a year, but if you're like me you will think it smells better with the faint aroma of a good cigar. So, with that in mind, have one on me-- I'll throw in a Cuban cigar (Cohiba) for you and you can have a smoke in your new ride on me.
All numbers match, all emblems, badges, and ornaments are original. Also comes with a box of misc. nuts bolts and various parts that were original. Comes with original factory headlight wipers (not pictured). When the car was stripped down and all paint removed, there was surface rust on the rear fenders, just above the tires. This was sanded down, filled, and repainted. If you look closely, you can see irregularities in the paint from this rust. I tried to take a picture of it but not sure if it shows up in the picture.
The car is right hand drive, (like in the UK) which makes for some interesting fun. My wife fell asleep going down the interstate once, and when she woke up, she was disoriented, and seeing that she was on the "driver's side" of a car going down the road, with no steering wheel, had a brief but very funny moment of panic. Also great fun when your passenger pays for meals at drive-throughs.
UPGRADES:
1) Mallory ignition conversion done, for reliability and inexpensive maintenance.
2) GM alternator conversion done, for reliability and inexpensive maintenance.
3) Paint stripped to bare metal and repainted all black in 2006, wet sanded polished.
4) Recent tune-up, including valve lifter adjustments
5) Fully synthetic oil
6) Door panels professionally redone in 2006 with new leather and crème stripe.
7) Dashboard wood redone in 2006 by me
8) All rear windows tinted professionally with Limo black tint, front windows slightly less dark. No tint on windscreen.
9) Arm rests professionally recovered in matching leather, ready to install (in trunk).
10) New “RR” wheel caps, factory originals.
11) Major engine work was done in 2005, including all new belts, plugs, et cetera.
PROBLEMS:
1) Odometer does not work, actual mileage unknown.
2) Right Front wheel cosmetic trim ring needs to be installed (its in the trunk, like a hubcap ring, not part of the driveline! Easy fix).
3) Misc. small items I didn't notice or didn't see-- just in case I forgot any!
"Why are you selling it?" I don't really want to sell the car. To spare you all of the gory details, I'll just shorten the story to that I bought into a bunch of BS from a CEO of a public company who managed to ruin my net worth by several million dollars, and I'm now living MUCH more modestly these days. I had this car restored for myself, and had intended to keep it forever. Its my baby, and I could justify keeping it because it doesn't depreciate in value and only goes up in value. However, I'm now living in a much smaller house, and need the money to pay off my debts. My loss is your gain!
YOUR BID IS A LEGAL AND BINDING CONTRACT! DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU CAN BUY! NON-PAYING BIDDERS WILL RECEIVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK!
SHIPPING:
The shipping is your expense, but I will deliver it to local buyers, and can help you get bids from several shipping brokers. I'm not an expert, but I'd guess it may cost you $1000 to ship it from Iowa to the coast. I've shipped quite a few cars over the last couple of years, and that's a little higher than what I usually pay, to be a roughly accurate estimate considering the higher fuel costs now.
BUT IT NOW:
The buy it now price is $46,000. This includes free shipping to anywhere in the continental US. If the buy-it-now option disappears, and you want to buy it, email me and we will arrange for a transaction through ebay.
