Vehicle Description ~~oo00oo~~ Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1967 A gorgeous “Silver Lady” This is a very fine, true and crisp Silver Shadow finished in Sterling Silver with Scarlet leather interior, highlighted with hand-painted scarlet fine lines. The Silver Shadow, in particular the early 1966 to 1968 model years, represented the dawn of a whole new model for Rolls-Royce with the then revolutionary monocoque body design. These early cars were the result of design and engineering over many years without the modifications that crept in over subsequent years to accommodate international design rules and requirements. The expansive wood dash-board, full chrome interior door handles and seat design were without the limitations set by emerging standards – most prominent in the US. This enabled the elegance of a plethora of burl walnut and chrome accents that exquisitely distinguished the “new” Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and presenting the cars as they were intended – not as standards demanded they become. This Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is a very well maintained and cared for example. The body is straight clean and the paint is lustrous and consistent. It is not entirely perfect with the odd and very minor blemishes and marks you might expect with a classic, but overall it presents way above average and ranks an easy 8 to 9 out of 10. It appears to be a newer paint job (in the last 10 years) and needs nothing to be enjoyed as a quality driver. The interior is quite stunning, presenting in totally original format and condition. The leather is very soft and supple with the welcomed patina of moderate use over the years. There are no cuts, tears or worn patches. The burl walnut wood throughout is in excellent condition without the signature cracking in the lacquer normally expected. The dash-board is the high-light of the interior with a stunning wood-grain that displays, by the grace of nature, a heavy contrast of light and dark grains. All features and functions are fully operational with air conditioning, heating, windows and seats operating properly. The clock, however, has its own mind and seems to function for a period of time then stops. Mechanically, this Silver Shadow is complete with good hydraulics and brakes and a very smooth operating engine. It has been recently work-shop tested. The 89,000 miles are not supportable although the smooth operation of all the mechanicals and the overall fine condition of the car is consistent with a low mileage example. I would suggest the miles are indeed accurate. Under the hood is very clean and tidy supporting the notion of a well maintained car. The boot/trunk is incredibly clean and original, sporting all original carpet and finishes in excellent condition. Bright-work, chrome, glass and external finishes are in very fine condition and require no attention. ~~ The release of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in 1966 took the motoring world by storm and left even the most renowned luxury car manufacturers with dropped jaws and consumers in awe. It was to be the single most successful model ever to be produced by Rolls-Royce Motors. This one is a beautiful example and provides as an excellent all-round 9 out of 10 driver/collectable. It has the makings for display registration at your next club show or simply take it as it is to your next Rolls-Royce Bentley meet with confidence. ~~ Many more photographs are available at the following link.
