We are listing it as a Mechanics Special because it needs engine repair.
We recently got this 1998 Saturn SL2 Coupe as a trade in on the purchase of a newer Saturn! This Saturn is in overall very good condition. The overall condition, upgrades, and look of this SL2 is exactly what you would expect of a sporty small sedan. When I turn the key I hear a click. I had it towed in to the repair shop, they diagnosed the issue and wanted to repair/replace the engine. I decided to list it on ebay with this issue noted.
First Impression:
Overall, this Saturn delivers the value, comfort and curb appeal I expect in a Sporty Sedan. This SL2 looks great and is great on gas. There are no dents or signs of an accident. This car delivers expensive taste and ride at a value price! Plus this mid size sedan but gets amazingly 29-34 Miles Per Gallon!
Interior:
The interior of this Saturn SL2 is Fully Loaded! It has soft clean cloth Interior with matching Trim. The carpet, as you can see in the pictures, is in overall good condition. The light color shows light normal wear and no significant stains or holes. The seats are still soft, but the bolsters firm, as they should be. Matching Panels on the passenger doors add to the luxurious look and ride comfort of this sedan. There are no cracks on any of the dash panels. The seats are all firm and comfortable. The carpets are a matching light tan color. Original floor mats are not included. You will find the headliner needs to be replaced because it is starting to sag and has some tears. There are smoke odors present, I don't smoke so I noticed it easily. There are no small hairs and so I don't believe pets have ever been in this car either. The interior and seats are in good clean condition.
The Interior of this Saturn SL2 is Very Nicely Loaded! From front to back, top to bottom, this Ride has it all! Inside, it starts with the Sport Interior. Overhead, you find dual map lights and a storage cubby. The Stereo System is an upgraded CD System. There are matching like new tires that look great. It also has a/c and cruise.
Power Door Locks, roll up Windows with child lock, Side View Mirrors, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control with Steering Wheel Controls, Intermittent Windshield Wipers, Front Seats with multi-point adjustments, 1 AC Power Outlet, Overhead Reading Lights, Remote Trunk Release fuel door release, Rear Defrost and a center Arm Rest with storage. The center console has 2 cup holders. There is a center storage compartment. Each front door has built in storage pockets. This Saturn comes with one key and the title is here for the new owner. This sedan has Dual Vanity Mirrors. The rear view mirror is Day/Night. The front air flow vents have adjustable air flow.
This Saturn seats 4 Passengers. The front captain style individual sport seats are both multi point adjustable with adjustable height head rests and shoulder belts. The upholstery shows only normal light wear and looks and feels nice. The trunk is fully carpeted and lighted. There is a spare tire in the trunk!
This is a Fuel Efficient Car with 28-34 MPG that also looks great.
Exterior:
The Exterior of this Saturn looks very nice. The Paint is described as Gold metallic and looks Glossy. The paint still has lots of shine and luster, which makes me believe it could have been garage kept. Though there are some expected stone chips and small scratches. The tires also passed VA State Safety inspection and should be good for several years. As a Fully Loaded sporty sedan, you will notice several items. First, the exterior is all painted to match the body color. To complete the smooth, sleek lines of this car, the side body moldings, door handles, side view mirrors, and bumpers are all painted to match the body color. The iconic Saturn Symbol is on the front hood and rear trunk. Otherwise, the sides are left smooth and sleek. This car is free from any big dings, dents, just pebble chips, but not a big deal. I do not see any indications of paint or body work. There is Rear Window also has Defrost.
Engine:
This 1998 Saturn 1.9 SL2 has the dependable 124 Horsepower 1.9 liter engine Engine. This car Generates 124 HP at 5,600 rpm. Torque is 122 pounds-foot at 4,800 rpm. This Motor runs on recommended regular unleaded gas and gets 24-34 Miles Per Gallon. Whe I turn the key all I hear is a click. I have been told it needs motor repair, If it turns out that all it needed was a starter please email me so I can knock my mechanic over his head.
