Weight distribution: Front: 46.8% Rear: 53.2% CHASSIS: Round tube space frame design that combines a 60's period look, but conforms to modern packaging and engineering requirements. The chasis layout was originally done by Jim Price himself, and then later optimized by the late Bob Negsted and Dan Bamford (of Roush engineering) with the finite element analysis by Wes Shultz of ACT. The torsional stiffness of the chassis alone is in order of 6,000 lbs per degree! DRIVE TRAIN: Our Coupe has a Roush Racing 427SR - Ford 351 Windsor engine stroked to 427 cu in. The chassis was engineered for a six speed Tremac T56 transmission, which our Coupe has. The Coupe is fitted with a 3.46:1 BTR Hydratrack differential, arguably the most modern slip-controlled differential available for road cars today. The Roush Racing 427SR engine in our Coupe produces 535HP and 550lb.ft. of torque and should give our Coupe amazing performance figures from 0-60 mph of around 3.8 seconds with standing quarter mile figures around 11.5 sec. These figures are based on performance test actually performed with comparable engines. The top speed should be in excess of 200 mph. BODY/INTERIOR: With shape and form styled by Peter Brock, the composite body is completely new, with advanced aerodynamics. The front windscreen is a heated and tinted shatterproof unit, the manually operated wind-up side windows are of toughened glasss. The luxurious two-seater leather-trimmed interior is air conditioned, three-point retractable seat belts are standard. Modern Stewart Warner instruments. These and the standard controls are ergonmically laid out. The cockpit, which offers 35.75" headroom and 4" seat travel, features a full custom-made air conditioner with heating and cooling as well as multi-speed fans and directional control. The dash has a lockable glovebox and space for a radio. A remote immobilzer and remote keyless locks and door opening are standard. A roll bar, a black padded roof liner and a 14"Moto Lita steering wheel complete the all-black interior. SUSPENSION: Bob Negstad together with Don and Wes designed the fully independent suspension. The rear suspension is based on the work Bob and Klaus Arning did in the 60's, a truly unique and impressive unequal A arm design front and rear. All the computer simulations were done by Wes using industry standard ANSYS software. SHOCKS AND SPRINGS: Bilstein and H&R collaborated to create a purpose built set of coil-overs front and rear. STEERING: The power-assisted rack and pinion steering has 2.5 turns lock to lock and gives the Coupe a turning circle of 42 ft. BRAKES: Vacuum-boosted system, Australian PBR calipers with 12.8" x 1.25" vented rotors in front, 12" x 1" in rear. The swept area is 428 sq in, or 310 sq inches per ton. WHEELS: Cast allow 18" x 8" wheels in front, 18" x 10" at the rear. The wheels are styled similar to the traditional FIA wheel. TIRES: NITTO NT555 Extreme ZR (Rear 295/45 ZR18) (Front 245/45 ZR18) GENERAL: The radiator has an aluminum core with built-in water to oil cooler. The exhaust system has the original looking side pipes but then goes back through a rear-mounted muffler. Full "race" side mufflers will be available as options. The stainless steel fuel tank is mounted over the rear axle and holds 21 gallons. There are stowage lockers under the rear deck and in the rear wheel wells. Our Daytona Coupe was registered in the Shelby American Automobile Club owners registry in 2005. Our 1965 Superformance Daytona Coupe is in excellent condition in everyway. It only has a very few minor blemishes, which are listed below. The rolling chassis was built by Superformance in 2004 and the car was completed with engine and transmission in 2005. We are the second owner and have been enjoying the car as a demo unit for well over a year. She runs very strong and is extremely comfortable to drive. The A/C system works great and the leather interior is very nice. This Daytona is ready to drive and needs nothing to enjoy right away.
Engine: Perfect! Very strong and reliable. The polished valve covers and manifold have some slight oxidation, but that can be buffed out. No leaks or problems whatsoever.
Transmission: Shifts are crisp and sure. Clutch is strong and engages well. The rear C/V joints have some slight play that makes a little noise upon engagement and when you lift off the gas pedal.
Exhaust System: Perfect! Some minor exterior rust on the side pipes.
Tires: Like new all around with 90% tread-life remaining.
Brakes: Excellent condition all around.
Steering: No problems, no leaks.
Air Conditioning: Blows very cold!
Front Seats: Perfect! Weatherstrip on driver's door sill is torn in two spots.
Carpet: Nice!
Headliner: Suede and very nice!
Dash: Dash pad is suede and the whole dash looks great!
Electronics: Everything works as it should!
Paint: Beautiful all around the car with hardly a scratch or nick anywhere!
Hood: Small paint nick on the hood's leading edge.
Right Front Fender: Nice! Decal is removeable.
Left Front Fender: Nice! Decal is removeable.
Right Doors: Nice!
Left Doors: Nice! One paint chip on the rear edge next to the wheelwell.
