Vehicle Description
Up for auction is a 1964 Studebaker 1/2 ton pick up truck. Truck is equipped with a Studebaker V8 engine and 3 speed overdrive transmission. This is the last year that Studebaker made trucks and based on the serial number is one of the last one's made.
I just purchased the truck a few weeks ago and truck has been sitting for several years. I've replaced the tires with 4 good used ones, flushed the gas tank and cooling system Changed the oil and filters. I got the truck running and it runs pretty good. I've only driven it around the block a few times and it seems to run OK but could probably use a complete tune up. I replaced the points to get it running.
The brakes were converted to silicone brake fluid years ago and still appear to work well. Truck has dual exhaust with glass packs. The exhaust pipes come out just in front of the rear tires.
This truck was a show truck back in the mid to late 80's and has unfortunately not been kept up. It's still a solid truck but could use a paint job and some detailing to really make it right. The floors and doors are solid. The lower areas of the cab are solid with some rust starting. The bed is very solid with almost no rust.
The interior is in pretty good shape except for the door panels. The seat is very good. I have some new door panels, minus the cardboard, that will go with the truck, along with good used arm rests. Also have some other miscellaneous parts the new owner can have including an extra dash and original radio.
This would be a great car to restore or just fix the few minor items and drive it like it is. I can't guarantee it would drive home since I've never driven it on the road at any speed above about 25 mph. I would recommend you trailer it.
For those Studebaker experts this is an E5 truck which meant it started life with a 6 cylinder engine. The truck was converted to a V8 in the early 80's. The truck has the standard 112 inch wheel base.
