This is really nice driver that I purchased from the 2nd owner last summer. He had the car repainted the original colors about 10 years ago. It had very little use since then because of mechanical issues he could not address. The paint still looks great. The odometer shows 93000 miles and I am pretty certain it is correct. The engine starts and runs perfectly with only a slight wisp of light smoke on cold startup which clears up in seconds. There is a very slight engine oil leak I have not located. It runs quiet and strong. It is the original 289 with 4 barrel carb and dual exhaust through the bumper, 210 horsepower. The seats were covered with plastic seatcovers from new which I just removed so the upholstery is perfect but the white vinyl is slightly discolored from age. There is no sign of outer body rust. The trunk floor is perfect. There is a small patch in the passenger side front floor near the air vent opening. Some water may have collected there over the years. All other floors are solid. The frame is rust free and solid. The bumpers have their original chrome which is not perfect but is very presentable.ALL THE EXTERIOR DIE CAST CHROME PARTS ARE NOS, NEW OR RECHROMED. The stainless trim is all perfect. The tires have excellent tread but show age. I do not know how old they are. They are Remington Cushion-Aire G78/15 wide whites. This car comes with the original owners manual and other literature. The following work has been done over this past winter to make this car safe and road-ready: The gas tank was removed, cleaned and sealed. New gaslines front to rear. New fuel pump. Total pro carburetor rebuild. New water pump. New radiator and heater hoses. NOS heater control valve. NOS radiator cap. Total new dual exhaust system including heat riser valve. New battery and battery cables. New battery box. The automatic transmission was professionally rebuilt and was converted to first gear start. The planetary gear assemby and center support were replaced with the "sprag clutch" type. This is by far the best way to get first gear start because it eliminates the band timing issue and provides a clean 1 - 2 shift. A remanufactured torque converter was installed at the same time as well as new engine mounts and u-joints. The brake system was totally renewed with all new shoes, wheel cylinders, hoses, some steel lines and a new master cylinder. The emergency brake cables and related hardware are new. All 4 shock absorbers are new. 4 new tie rod ends and a new center pivot assembly were installed in the front end. The king pins were checked and found to be in good condition. All door and trunk weatherstripping has been replaced. The windshield and rear glass were professionally removed and new seals installed. The air vent seals are new. As previously stated, all the die cast was replaced with mostly NOS, some new manufacture and some rechromed. This includes both tailight and both parking light assemblies. Inside there is a new dash pad, restored steering wheel, new headliner. new kick panels and rear package shelf and new door opening windlace. The carpet is original and is presentable with average wear. The radio does not work. The clock works sometimes. All other accessories work fine. THERE ARE NO SEAT BELTS. As you can see, lots of time and money were spent to make this car in excellent condition. Some detailing, like the engine compartment would make it near show quality. But as is it is a very attractive, dependable and safe driver that attracts attention wherever it goes. Questions are welcome and viewings are encouraged and can be arranged. Thanks for looking.
