Vehicle Description
BOUGHT THIS WITH ANTICIPATED INSURANCE $ WHEN MY 'O2 LEGACY WAGON [just bought used] WAS HIT AT 1st STOPLIGHT IN THE BIG BAD CITY - on my way to important meeting! It's been so much fun to drive that I took over a year to fix the '02 on my own. 1997 = first real Outback: HD suspension, 2.5L 167 HP engine with 105k timing belt, lots of torque, inaudible engine, 28 mpg at 70 mph. Switched to synthetic oil last week, now cruises like a dream. Only original problem was replacing ignition switch; side mirror motor just started getting iffy; tiny dime-sized divot on L pass. door. Body is about 8.8 out of 10! Just put 16" newer 2000-04 style alloys on, with Continental 215-60, 70k-rated tires - planned for the '02 but included instead of the 15" stock alloys [which have almost-new Michelin XWs] if buyer wants to pay $600 extra. Pix of stock alloys; will be detailed before delivery. I am 30 mi. south of Chattanooga, 95 north of ATL airports - as far as I'll deliver it for free, with total prepaid. Otherwise buyer is responsible for shipping. Cash or cleared bank check only. Never sold auto online before; might have left out some standard thing or other. Let me know.

RE a # of Qs about timing belt interval, go to this site, which says the 2.5L DOHC is 105k: http://endwrench.com/images/pdfs/2.5Timing.pdf But ALSO see Gates belt site which says 60k for the 1997: http://www.familycar.com/CarCare/Images/GatesTBR.pdf I'm not the expert, but thanks for the persistent Qs. RE 'larger pix' Qs, my jpeg settings mysteriously reduced after first shot; can email larger photo of the front L view! Also forgot to mention 3rd party remote [half size of stock model] which my electrician did not try to install - as I discovered after paying ignition replacement bill. He said Sub. dealer would need to find a red button under the dash, and initialize codes per install instructions. Finally, my reserve price is $4700, quite fair to limit my losses on the overall complications of this 'temporary' vehicle, and I will keep it and market my '02 if it is not met.
