This is a 1987 Toyota Camry that we bought a few weeks ago from a teacher in Marysville Kansas for my daughter to drive back and forth to school. The gentleman kept immaculate detailed records of every oil change and maintenance that was done to this car since he bought it in 1991. The only reason he was selling it, was that his wife was a teacher and the kids were making a little bit of fun at her for driving an older car......
My husband drove it home 150 miles and said it drove fine. He drove it up to 80 on the freeway......we knew it needed a little bit of work and took it to the repair shop today:
This is what needs to be repaired, which we don't have the money to repair it, neither does my daughter, so we are going to sell the car and let her drive his van when she needs to. we can't take our cash out of the mutual funds since they are down almost 1/2 and we don't want to charge the repairs......so we are selling this to pay for her gas this winter etc and college in the fall...
It needs a muffler, starter sometimes hangs up when you start it, has had recent new brakes but it needs brake lines in the middle of the car somewhere, 1 back tail light is burned out, and front bushings will need to be done soon.... Butler Muffler and Brakes in Leavenworth looked at the car and said it would be about 1000.00 to fix all of the aboe items, but for someone that could do it yourself or some of it......Like I said my husband couldn't tell driving it home that it needed anything except the starter/muffler/and tail light.
Things we were never going to fix, the 2 back doors won't open and neither will the trunk. The locks are frozen on them. Has a fairly new JVC stereo system in it, but a speaker wire must be loose because it crackles some.
It uses 1/2 qt of oil every month or so the owner told me, he also said the heater worked great, but the ac did not.
Has new tires on it, and a new battery.
Has some rust around the fender wells and along the bottom, but not as bad as the 1989 that my other daughter drove last winter until she totaled it. That's why we bought another one of these since they seem to run forever....
I am not sure what else you need to know. I guess it is a 4 cyl and gets great gas mileage. It has a full tank on it now, not sure if it still will when the auction is over or not, but that's 45.00 worth of gas.
250.00 worth of tires at least
233.00 at the scrap yard was what we got on the last car.
So, even though I paid 895.00 I was hoping to get 600.00 out of it.
Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to answer them for you. If it doesnt sell, I guess we will just have to save and fix a little at a time.
I sell everything as is. All sales Final. No refunds. No warranties. Mileage is a close estimate as it may be driven.
Deposit of 100.00 is expected within 12 hours of auction ending and immediately would be better. Cash in hand to pick up. I will not ship, but will help if you need to have it shipped. Hoping someone close by could just come drive it home.
Wow, just looked up ebays fees for selling cars and it is 125.00...wow.....they are taking more and more aren't they. If you feel more comfortable driving over and looking at it, email me and you are welcome to come. I am home most of the time. I also forgot to take photos of the tires, but can email them if you want to see them. They look like new to me.
On Oct-13-08 at 15:41:06 PDT, seller added the following information:
Forgot to mention that the drivers seat looks like it is ripped under the seat cover and the seat cover also has a tear in it.....that was one of the items I was going to buy my daughter for an Xmas gift. The dash is cracked, but it does have a new dash cover in the car to cover it, if you wish. My number is 913-351-3235 If you want to speak to me directly, instead of through ebay. My name is Anette....and I will close down the auction if I sell prior to close of auction. Thanks
