1989 Toyota MR2. I have Clear PA Title in hand. I purchased the car May 2006, with the intention of using it for a spare car. Got deployed to Iraq in November 2006 and the car sat since. Mostly inside of my garage. Since returning from Iraq I have placed an order for a new car and do not need this one. You don't see many of these on the road anymore. It is a fun car to drive and in very nice shape for it's age! Even though it has over 219,246 miles the engine sounds great and the transmission shifts smooth through all gears! With gas prices the way they are this will make someone a great car for a spare or even a primary work vehicle or restore it! I am going to list everything I can about this car so you can make your decision on bidding. No Warranty is offered. I have 100% positive feedback after more than 100 transactions on Ebay.
This MR2 is red with nice Gray Cloth interior and Glass removable top. The engine is a 1600-TVIS. Transmission is a 5SPD. As far as I know they are both original to this car. Slave Cylinder was checked by the Toyota Dealership and is fine. All lights work. Brakes work fine.
I had four brand new Toyo 195/50R-15 tires and American Racing Aluminum mags ($791.32) installed on May 27th, 2006. There can't be any more than 300 miles on these new tires/mags since I bought them. They really set this car off nice! I have barely driven this car since buying it. I am also including the four Douglas 185 60R-14 tires and four American Racing Mags that came on the car when I bought it. They have very good tread. On May 23, 2006, I had a Toyota dealership install a new rear taillight assembly (which was broken) which cost 162.57. The oil and filter was also changed at this time. I also had the manual transmission serviced and new wiper blades installed. A four wheel allignment was also completed.
The inspection sticker on the car ran out May 2007, while I was overseas. When I came back from Iraq I took the car in for inspection at a Local Toyota Dealership (Aubrey Alexander Toyota in Selinsgrove, PA) and they identified the following two things that needed repair before they could place a new sticker on.
1. Repair to the undercarriage. This included metal replacement and undercoating. I have just recently (June 22, 2008) had this repair work professionally completed. The shop is Kunkel Brothers in Selinsgrove, PA. Cost of work was $424.00. They did a very nice job!
2. Needs a new valve cover gasket. If you do it it runs about $15 for the materials. I think the Toyota dealership wanted around $300. This work reamains to be completed.
These are the little things I know about this car that I will list. There was a repair made to the bottom of the front spoiler. There is still some body work that should be completed at the rear wheel lips over the tries. There is some electrical problem that has cropped up where the battery drains overnight if I leave the cables hooked up. I haven't had the time to look at it and determine the culprit as I am still recoevering from extensive knee surgery as a result of my tour of duty in Iraq. There is also a scuff mark from the drivers side wiper on the windshield glass that was there when I bought the car. Should be able to take it to Cindy Rowe and have them polish it out. Email me if you need any clarification or have any other questions about this car.
