You are bidding on a vehicle in excellent working condition. This Prius has low miles and Drives and Handles Like a new car. It has the New Car Smell. Several months ago it was bought from an insurance company after an accident with damage to the Left Rear Quarter Panel. The air bags did not deploy and none of the driveline was affected. There was no damage to the engine or transmission. as a result this car when transferred will get a REBUILT title, it now has a SALVAGE TITLE. All body parts were replaced with genuine toyota parts by a local repair shop and the car was checked out and inspected by a certified Toyota Mechanic. We have repaired several priuses with Salvage Titles. We think these are the greatest cars made. On this particular car I have driven it since the repairs and I love it. It runs perfect and today I will park it until the end of the sale.
As for the Gas Mileage I drive about 25 miles to and from work. Half is Highway and half is Stop-n-go. I consistantly average 50mpg. I don't drive slow, but about average. There are some tricks, if you buy I will show you when you pick up the car.
The central display has a number of functions, from a display that graphs your fuel usage as you drive to a graphical energy display that shows where the power is coming from and where it is going. This panel is also a touch screen and is used to control the sound system and climate controls. The controls for the sound system, climate control are also duplicated on the steering wheel and are easy to use. The steering wheel controls are illuminated at night.
Toyota has pulled out all the stops in order to develop a new kind of hybrid power system that can reclaim much of the energy that is normally lost when you slow down or stop. When you step on the brake pedal, the hybrid system absorbs a good portion of forward motion and converts it into electricity that is stored in a large battery. This stored energy is then used to power an electric motor that is connected to the wheels and helps the gasoline engine move the car.
In the new Prius, the electric motor can propel the car up to 30 miles per hour without any help from the engine. And that is all free energy, most of it stored while we were slowing down! The electric motor can also be used along with the engine to provide extra power when it is needed, creating amazing acceleration. This setup allows Toyota to use a smaller, more fuel efficient engine without compromising adequate acceleration. If the electric motor is able to handle the forward motion without the help of the gasoline engine, the computer shuts the engine off, at which time no gasoline is used at all. The acceleration will surprise you, passing and entering freeways is no problem.
