1980 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 500 ROADSTER
BRITISH SHOW CAR
This is a great car up for sale. I have owned many sports cars but my favorites have always been Spitfires. They have the tightest turn radius, and the roomiest cabs. I have owned this one for 2 years but have to sell it since I am moving and will no longer have a garage to keep it in. The car has spent most of its life garaged in Wisconsin where it could only be driven 2 -3 months out of the year due to the weather. It now reside in sunny Florida where it is also garaged and only driven every once in a while on weekends. It needs someone who will drive it and enjoy it before all the rubber parts dry out. Hence the low mileage. The car shifts Smoothly. The under carriage is in excellent condition. Like all cars of its age it does have an occasional drop or so of oil that leaks but nothing major. The car has been restored, rebuilt carburator, new exhaust manifold w/ intergal head and catalytic converter, Monza dual exhaust system, bearings front inner and outer seals, new brake lines front and back, brakes, shocks, new fuel pump, stabilizer bushings, rubber air hoses in engine replaced, radiator, Complete valve job and head gasket replaced within the last 500 miles. So basically you've got a new engine here. The car is maintained regularly. The car comes with an am/fm cd player with large speakers behind the seats (see images). I also have a car cover which covers the entire car and a bag that holds cover to store in trunk. A black tonneau cover which covers the entire passenger area and zips out so the driver can sit in car and drive while passenger area is still covered while top is down. A Tan boot is included that covers the convertible top wen it is down. All three covers are in excellent condition. Carpets do not have any holes. There is a light stain and small tear in one seat. Wooden shift knob. Dashboard medal from "Wheels across the pond" British Car Show.
The body is in excellent condition. There is a 6 inch cut in the rubber bumper on the front passenger side. See images. Otherwise no dents. No accidents that I am aware of.
I would probably replace the soft top if I were to keep the car as it has a couple of small tears in it. Some where along the line someone used a cleaning chemical that weakened the material and it tore easily. It is soft, not brittle but can tear.
