Vehicle Description
This car starts and runs excellent. I picked it up 483 miles from here and did not have any problems what so ever driving it to my home. As you can see this car is for the person who is all about restoration. I had a Spitfire in high school and want to relive the dream, however I think this car needs a restoration down to the frame. This is a job more than I can handle or want to handle. Here is the good and the bad. Motor runs like a champ. It has a rebuilt carb. 4 speed transmission (no overdrive). New brake pads and shoes, new tires, The starter and mechanical pump were replaced with an electric pump. This car can sit 2 weeks and crank up on the first turn of the key. The heater/defrost controls work well. The drive was enjoyable, just a little loud.
The bad: No muffler, fair amount of minor surface rust throughout. I took the car to an auto body specialist and he mentioned that the drivers floor pan would have to be replaced (6 in. hole in drivers floor board). The rear quarter panels can be patched and do not have to be completely replaced. The turn switch was replaced, but not with the original. Needs a soft top, no radio, no spare tire and the wipers do not work. I think thats it. I think with a little time and money this could be a great car to sport around in.
