Its the same old story ... Bug enthusiast with not enough time on my hands to make it happen.
Purchased this bug in Austin, not running. Replaced the existing engine with a 73 engine only to find that the issues didn't stop there.
Took the Bug to an awesome Firestone where the service manager started his career in a Bug shop.
Items fixed or replaced:
Engine replaced with 73 engine.
New clutch
New Carbureator
New Exhaust
Items I know that need to be fixed:
Need a brake job (new drums and pads all around you have to press hard to stop)
3 new tires (bought the front right one to get it moving)
Small wiring issue
(head lights and tail lights work windshield wipers work
hazards and turn signals do not)
No visible panel rust (battery area is good and front floor panels okay)
Minor External dings and rust (see pics attached)
No head liner and small tears on seat cushions
