Up for auction is a beautiful 1974 California Super Beetle. I bought this car from a long-time owner here in Southern California, The car has been a daily driver and the interior and exterior have been totally restored. The prior owner had the engine rebuilt in 2003 and had a new carb installed even more recently. Along with that, the car has new shocks and struts. Within the last month, the interior and exterior of the car have been restored. The windows, running boards, molding, bumpers, and seals were all removed before the car was sanded and painted three weeks ago. There is no rust on the car and the heater channels are solid. The car's tires are new and still have the whiskers on them! The car has been detailed both inside and out and restored with a long list that includes: new window seals, a brand new sealed battery, new trunk seal, new engine lid seal, new front turn signals along with seals and boots, new trunk handle seals, new rear apron plugs, new flasher relay, new windshield wipers, new license plate seal, new breather hose, and new fuel line hose. The interior has a new dashboard, new carpet, and new front seat covers. The headliner is in great shape and overall grades out to near mint. As you can see from the pictures, the car looks simply awesome! I get a lot of looks when I take it out including many who say that it looks like a new car. There are some imperfections but not many. There are some scratches on the passenger side that didn't get sanded out before painting, and there's some filler on the same side in front of the door. Other than that, there are a couple of small dings which aren't very obvious unless you're looking for them. The engine runs great and cruises nicely at 55-60 MPH. It has been detailed and was really cared for by the previous owner. Both front and rear bumpers where removed, sanded on the inside and painted gray..the rear bumper even has the original bumper caps which the prior owner had removed and stored in his garage for the past 16 years. The title of course is clear and I will drive the car up to 50 miles from West Hills, CA to meet the buyer or deliver to his/her carrier company. I am listing the car here locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. The opening bid is very low and the reserve price set well below the car's retail value! Please email or call me at (818) 335-7197 with any questions that you may have. Thanks for looking, Randy On Jul-06-08 at 19:18:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a couple of phone calls and emails regarding whether or not the car is smog-exempt in California, and the answer is yes, it is exempt from smog check in the state of California. Also, the car does have a clear coat finish and the radio works. Thanks for the phone calls and questions. On Jul-07-08 at 22:35:51 PDT, seller added the following information: I've received a couple of requests to end the auction early. I'd prefer to let the auction run the full 10 days..if/when the bid hits the reserve amount, I will then refer all local inquiries to the auction. On Jul-08-08 at 06:34:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Several people have called and asked about the reserve price. The NADA average retail price on this car is $4,950 and the high retail price is $10,600. I've set the reserve well below the average retail price. Also, the dome light in the car is new, but the primary wire isn't connected. Thanks for all of the interest and questions.
