1968 VW Deluxe Transporter Bus
This is an amazing, one-of-a-kind VW Bus that looks fantastic, drives exceptionally well, and is super tight inside and out. It was restored and meticulously maintained personally by the previous owner for 20+ years (a BIG reason I bought it), and is an absolute joy to drive.
Mechanically, almost everything has been gone through within the last 5,000 miles. Cosmetically, it’s the masterpiece of a lifelong SoCal surfer. Put the two together along with some custom upgrades and you have one of the most unique cruisers in the entire nation. It’s not quite “show quality” (although it won a few awards in the 90s), but it has all the magical character that a VW bus should. It's a one-of-a-kind head turner. Here are the details:
Paint Body
§ Paint: DuPont Kandy2 Chesapeake Bay Pearl (top) and Mullberry Magenta Pearl.
§ Bumpers: Originals - triple chrome plated with new rubber step pads.
§ Body: Totally straight, no accidents with only your basic surface rust under the front and cargo floor mats. Exterior is totally rust-free.
Wheels Tires
§ Two sets of wheels:
§ 15” chromies with Porsche hubcaps and Cooper Highlander 195/65 highway tires;
§ Original 14” rims with matching purple powdercoat and original chrome caps with NEW Wintermaster 185/70 studded snow tires
§ Heavy duty snow chains with heavy wear bars - fit snow tires only
Glass Rubber
§ Limo tinted side and back windows / Lighter tinted front windows
§ Newer tinted windshield and seal
§ Slider, rear cargo and engine compartment doors have newer German rubber seals
§ Front doors have newer German rubber seals
Interior
§ Custom emerald green carpeting throughout
§ All the original floor mats are there – under the carpet.
§ Middle bench with original brown vinyl upholstery - mint condition!
§ Velour dash cover
§ Doors are insulated with 1/2 inch rubber/foam/mylar insulation
§ Floor is insulated with heavy duty rubber carpet pad
§ Original headliner - not a rip in it
§ JVC digital, detachable-face CD / MP3 player with 150W power amp mounted under the rear bench seat, Pioneer box speakers (front) and portable kicker and subwoofer boxes (back)

§ Stewart-Warner "Southwind” Gas Heater, mounted under the back seat with controls built into the base of the driver's seat. The original heater boxes are non-functional now that the gas heater is hooked up
§ Two 12 Volt accessory outlets - one on the dash, one behind the passenger seat. Great for electronic cooler, battery charger, cellular phone, etc
Extras
§ Custom Road Trip Repair Kit – A large toolbox packed with supplies, parts and tools to handle any issue that may come up on those long road trips

Imperfections
§ A few minor scratches on front window tinting – all the other windows are fine
§ Passenger side mirror is cracked – I do have replacement mirror glass - included
§ There is virtually imperceptible scuff on the front (from a 2x4 that fell and grazed the bus), but it’s there

Two very minor imperfections to add - in the interest of full disclosure:
Clear coat layer on rear portion of roof has a few areas that are peeling. Blue paint is perfect - just the clear coat layer is affected. (Costs $40 to respray if you wanted to make it look new)
Padding strip located at the top of the driver seat divider panel has a chunk missing from it (previous owner's dog took a bite). You can get a replacement part for $10-20.
