Up for auction I have a 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon. The van has some issues. For starters, about a year ago I was on the way home and she got pretty hot and started to make some whirling/groaning noise and she shut down. I went back to the engine and popped the hatch and lo and behold there was quite a bit on coolant laying about. I thought this was indeed quite bad and had her towed to where she sits today. I would assume that I cracked the head or at very least the water pump froze up. I would expect the worst however. I have not had the van looked at by anyone since the incident and now I am in the process of moving and she must go ASAP! Please check out the photos and read what everything has to say before asking any questions. All sales are final and the van must be paid for within 48 hours of listing end and picked up NO LATER THEN JULY THE 9TH!!! As you can see, the body is in fair shape, however there seems to be a bit of paint peeling happening in a couple of places that should be tended to asap to avoid the sure onset of deep seated rust. A bit more of the same paint issues on the sliding door. Mug shot looks like all the letters are still there, you can see in this pic that the left speaker is hanging. The shocks on the rear hatch work great Here is a shot of the engine, but it's all greek to me. The odometer reads 87276, but that is what it read when I purchased it from a little, old mechanic from Baltimore, the speedo works. I would say that I only drove it about 2000 miles before the trouble. The van hauls 7 nicely, but the middle seat comes out for extra hauling space. Also included is a basic set of velcro on curtains in a matching color. Shot of the removable middle seat. Also going with the purchase is an A/C recharge kit, an extra fan belt, some new jack stands and a set of extra long jumper cables(not shown) Here is a better shot of the peeling paint on the drivers side door. Well that pretty much wraps it up. I have started the bidding at $400 as that is what the current scrap price is for this vehicle. I would much rather see someone fix it up and drive it rather then see it recycled. I also know someone locally that has a wrecked van with a freshly retuned motor that would sell quite cheap, my guess is around $500. If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot an email out to me. Good luck and enjoy the ride!
