Converted inhouse from gas to diesel. Automatic transmission.
It is in great mechanical shape except for except for the transmission. In order for the car to run properly and shift at the correct RPM's the ring and pinion in the transmission needs to be changed. Unfortunatley we cannot find these parts in Europe. We waited for months with no success. (Automatic vanagons are not common in Europe)
It runs and drives okay, however the RPM during shifting are too high. If it was converted to manual transmission, we can provide one for around $2200. IT has already been regeared with the taller 3rd and 4th gears so that they match the diesel engine perfectly. Our shop is currently too busy to install them ourselves, but they are offered at a substantial discount to someone who would like to do the work themselves. We can order any parts that you may need to do this. We normally sell our converted Vanagons for $15-20,000. We can order any parts you need to do this.
Alternatively, this vanagon could be converted to a Subaru or Tiko gas engine if someone wanted a clean mechanically sound Vanagon to do this with.
