Vehicle Description Up for auction is a 1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia 3-speed auto stick. This car was purchased previously on eBay - Auction#170163592624. Based on the original auction description, we thought this car was in daily driver condition. We, stupidly, paid for the vehicle prior to seeing it in person and the seller would not let us back out of the deal. We are putting this car back up for sale, as my husband already has another project car taking up space in our garage. We are betting there is someone out there that is interested in restoring this little coupe. This car was sold to me as a 1972 model, but turned out to be a 1974, based on the actual VIN number on the car. The title had the VIN number as listed in the auction and the license plates listed on the title matched those on the car; however, the VIN on the title and the VIN on the car did NOT match. At the direction of the adjuster, with VPP, I obtained a Texas BONDED TITLE for this vehicle. So…please make sure your state will accept this type of title prior to bidding. The car is titled only. I did not register the car for license plates as it would not pass a safety inspection. It has a new battery and DOES RUN. The quicky paint job (oh, I meant Detail) it got before I bought it is OK, and still draws lots of looks when seen out and about in our neighborhood. The sunroof was not professionally installed, is not original equipment, and does not latch...thus we keep the car in our garage to prevent additional deterioration due to the elements. The car comes with an extra wheel, (no tire), that we got for a spare. Please note, the tires are NOT real white walls. There is a white flap that, I think, is attached to the inner rim and held in place by the wheel. I have taken lots more pictures than I posted here...so you can email me with any questions and/or requests for a link. No reimbursement was received thru VPP, as the adjuster told me “eBay’s Vehicle Purchase Protection program provides protection against certain losses associated with some types of fraud. Although your seller might have misrepresented the vehicle, the damages to your vehicle are not eligible under eBay’s VPP program.” I am out approx. $8781.50 at this point, and would like to recoup some of that expense. We purchased the car, flew out to CA to drive it back to TX, had to have it towed to a repair shop for estimates, stored for a week, then shipped back to TX...Once it made it to Texas, I paid the taxes titling fees, plus 2 months of insurance. Take it from me, NEVER pay for a car before you see it in person, no matter what the payment directions state in the auction! If we didn’t already have a project car (in parts all over the garage), we would take this one on. I will answer any of your questions and will post the questions and answers on this auction. The buyer is responsible for arranging, and paying, for any and all shipping charges. I would like payment pickup arrangements within 1 week of auction close. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
