Vehicle Description
My wife and I are selling a 1996 VW / Volkswagen Passat GLX VR6 Sedan with 158000 miles.
Overall Condition: car is in a overall good condition, runs great, is low on gas (about 25-29 mpg city, 30+ mpg highway), has only a few minor scratches and bumps, the car was build in Germany and has a few Pro and Contras, just bought it two months ago, sell it, because we got a newer car from a collegue.
Pros:
Brand new tires (only 1 month old, 600 $)
New front window (1 month old)
recently checked through by a local Foreign Car Repair (see Contras as well)
overall in a good condition, body has only minor bumps and scratches, engine runs well
I do have a clear Carfax report on it
Contras:
the car will need an exhaust repair sometime soon (properly within the the 3-6 months)
the AC on the car does not work properly and needs to be fixed
the passenger side door does not open (since a few days) and needs to be fixed, the left rear does does only open from outside
the Car did not pass its recent Mass. inspection (passed safety, failed for emissions) due to the engine light on, we got that fixed by a repair shop, as per the repair guy in general the 1996 VW Passats seem to have trouble reseting their Onboard computer (first year, they put these computers in), after talking to the Inspection station, the repair station and the Department of Motovehicles the mistake seems to come from the new radio, that a former owner put in, but must have not properly connected it, we did not try to reinspect it and decided to sell it, as we got a newer car from a collegue, who moved back to England, the computer might have reseted by now, but we do not guarantee that
the Guy from the Car repair can not find any reason for the computer not to reset, as there are no fault codes in the computer and everything else on the cars condition seems to be fine
With the current situation of the Car we are selling it for parts and do not guarantee Inspection without some repairs done to it, but we are sure, that someone, who knows a little more about cars and who is looking for a little project to work on, this car could be a lot of fun
Info: (AAA Emergency case on the picture not included)
