If your tired of searching for a nice, highly fuel efficient TDI Passat, and seeing all the ones on ebay selling for what they sold for new in '04 '05....This may be the car for you!!! Sure it has some miles on it, and a few bumps on the finish~ But it's the same car and the price is right!!! I purchased this 2004 VW Passat TDI from it's original owner just a few months ago, and despite it's unbelievable fuel mileage and wonderful power~ I just can't do without an SUV. I'm selling it to buy a TDI Touareg, and that is the only reason I'm selling it. It's a fabulous car with a ton of miles left in it. I'm sure if you are viewing this auction, you probably already know most of the specs on this car. TDI Diesel Passats, were only imported to the US in 2004 and 2005 model years. they are extremely sought after for their great fuel economy, combined with spacious interior, and German performance. Now a little about this particular TDI Passat...As I mentioned above, I purchased the car from it's original owner a few months ago. He traveled for his work, and racked up the miles quickly with state to state highway travel. He told me the car was regularly serviced at either the VW dealership, or a German car specialty shop in his hometown. He said he only used Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil, and genuine VW filters, and changed the oil every 6k miles since the miles were all interstate travel, and I have done the same. The car doesn't consume any oil in between changes. He also said the timing belt was replaced at 160k. This car performs great!!! I truly can't believe how much power it has, with the fact that the fuel mileage numbers being what they are. I recently drove a new Toyota Camry rental car, and it was so weak~ it would barely get out of it's own way. The TDI Passat accelerates effortlessly onto a freeway, and seems likes it's just idling at 70mph! Not to mention the handling, and braking characteristics are excellent! Definately doesn't feel like your driving an economy car! This car has a clean CARFAX, and has never been wrecked or repainted. However...It does have a few bumps and bruises consistent with a higher mileage vehicle. The hood has a dent near the front center, the drivers door has a dent, and just in front of the left rear tire is a small dent. The finish has light scratches/scuffs here and there, but the shine is still like new! The previous owner stated this damage was done by a semi truck tire recap flying up in front of him.The passat is also missing the fuel filler door, and the hood latch needs some adjustment. I have tried my best to show all the flaws in the pics. I feel like I make the car sound worse than it is....It really looks good, and the dents are hardly noticeable until you get fairly close. I just want to be completely upfront about everything, so the winning bidder is pleased with the purchase. No one likes surprises when it comes to buying a car! On the interior: It has leather (or leatherette, I don't know how to tell the difference) seats, and they are clean with no holes, rips or tears. The same for the carpet, and the rest of the interior~no holes, rips,or tears. Clean, clean, clean!!! Never been smoked in, and no bad smells, etc. The only issues I see inside the car are: A few LEDs are not working on the radio display (I think you can see this in one of the photos), and some of the grey interior coloring is flaking off around the shifter, and glovebox door (Almost every used VW I see is like this~they must have a problem with the paint)....It's no big deal, the panels are gray underneath too. The AC blows ice cold, and the dash has no lights on, and all lights, power accesories, etc, work as they should. I see no reason the car would not pass inspection in any state. The car has professionally tinted windows, and matching GoodYear Regazza tires. I'm guessing the tires are half tread or better, and look to be wearing very evenly. The car also has the Original Owners Manual, and all three keys~two switchblade style, and one valet key. If you have any concerns about buying from me, you can also check my other ebay account "waytoohonest" with over 750 positive feedbacks. Prospective bidders are welcome to come view the car, test drive, or have your mechanic check it over~ BEFORE the auction ends. I'm just north of Charlotte NC, off I-77.Just email me. I take buying and selling on ebay seriously, and consider the winning bidder the new owner of the item. I have set a modest reserve, and expect the car to sell on ebay. I request a 500.00 PayPal deposit within 24 hours of auctions end, and the balance paid in cash or cashiers check at pick up. I would also be willing to meet someone with an hour or so drive of Charlotte for pick up. I'm a VW enthusiast, and I hope the car is purchased by someone who will give it a little love and bring it back to perfect condition. It's a great car and will pay for itself time and time again! PLEASE ask any questions you may have! No matter how small...I'm here to answer anything I can! HAPPY BIDDING!!!! On Sep-06-08 at 10:42:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I had a question from a fellow ebayer asking about the air bag being a different shade of black from the rest of the steering wheel. I just want to make it clear that the air bag has NOT been deployed in this car. It's just a different shade of black, due to the fact that the air bag is a harder vinyl material, and has not faded like the soft steering wheel has, where your hands touch. This car has a clean Carfax, with no record of fender benders or any salvage, theft, or flood history~ which I have a paper copy of. I will be happy to scan and email it to anyone who wants a copy of it. This Passat has never had any damage other than the minor dents noted in the description. I also have a clear NC title in hand with no liens, ready for the new owner. Thanks! On Sep-09-08 at 13:10:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Just wanted to add a couple items before the reserve is met ....(it's very close). The tinted windows may keep the car from passing inspection in some states,I don't know if they are truly "legal" here in NC. If the winning bidder wants the tint removed, I can have that done, as long as you let me know a couple days before you pick up the car. I'm still driving the car around town, so it will have a few more miles on it when it is picked up. Thanks!!! Happy bidding!!! On Sep-11-08 at 11:24:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I also had a question from a fellow ebayer about the hood damage and the hood alignment . From what I can tell, the hood has the dent in the middle, and is somwhat "creased" the hood pulling the edges above the fenders. I think this is also the problem with the hood latch. Also the front bumper, and rear bumper seem to be missing a few of the plastic fasteners that hold them on. If you tug on the plastic bumper covers they move around just a bit. The fellow ebayer was thinking that maybe the car has had further damage because of what he was seeing in pictures~I have owned repaired wrecks in the past, and I can assure you this car has never been in a "wreck". The only damage it has had is the damage it still has, which is what I have photograhed, and described. The front hood damage was caused by an 18 wheeler tire tread coming off in front of him~the original owner seemed be a very trustworthy guy~and I have no reason to not to believe this is what happened. If you think about those big tire treads probably weigh in excess of 50 pounds, and if you hit it at 60-70 miles per hour on the interstate, it could do a little damage. Furthermore the Passat was still financed with VW credit when I bought it from the original owner~which means it had full coverage insurance. Had the car been wrecked and repaired it would be noted on the CARFAX report, and/or title. The owner simply elected to not turn these items in on insurance. If you've ever had a car with minor damage, and turned it in on your insurance you know why! They really stick it to you in the long run. My plan, was to find a Silver Passat in a junkyard with a good door, fuel door and hood~buy them, and bolt them on. The other minor dings and scratches I could live with. However the new owner can repair as he/she wishes...or not at all. It's truly not a bad looking car as it sits.
