Selling a 1982 VW Rabbit Custom Pickup Truck with many extra parts included. I recently purchased the truck in hopes of converting over to veggie oil, but found instead a just as economical Honda CRX HF. With now to many vehicles have decided to sell the Diesel Caddy. The truck had once been used for business purposes (the lettering on the side of truck can be easily removed before turning over to a new owner). The engine is a 1.6L L4 Diesel with a 5 speed transmission. The clutch is fine and shifts through all gears smoothly. Even though I am not familiar with the trucks past service/maintenance history, the truck appears to be in overall good condition for the year. Mechanically the truck starts up easily runs fine. Does not burn, leak or use excessive oil. This custom verision is equipped with alot of extras; such as a complete vinyl lined interior (still in excellant shape), deluxe door armrests, a windshield visor side window rain visors, Alpine radio/cassette deck, sliding rear window with color cordinated cap, KC foglights, and even an original rabbit embossed steering wheel wrap. There is a veggie oil storage tank copper heater coil that comes with the truck (not connected up).
The glow plugs work great because the truck starts up very easily. There is a engine block heater plug for cold weather winter starting. Recent brake work has just been done including new front brake rotors, pads, and emergency brake cables. The parking brake lever is missing a ratching clip to hold lever in place. The rear bumper has towing balls a wiring harness. The passenger side rear bumper plastic end boot is missing. The radio, all lights including fog lights, wipers, turn signals, horn work good. After 26 years even the dash clock still works good. The front windshield has a crack in the upper passenger side (there are two good windshields and extra side glass pieces that are included with the sale). The horn, glow plugs, and cooling fan operate from dash mounted pushbutton switches. The interior is clean and in very good condition, except for some wear along the carpeting edges. The 13" radial tires still have 50-60% treadlife left. The sale includes four good extra mounted wheels tires.
The truck had been repainted in the past (original color is still silver) and still has a good shine. The body has some minor paint blisters, dings scratches. The strut towers are solid. Overall the body is pretty much rustfree. It appears a prior owner had some rust repair work done on the drivers side floorpan area. The trucks back bed liner is solid and has been rustproof coated on the inside bed.
Extra's that are included with the sale are as follows: a extra 5 speed transmission; brand new clutch kit; used alternator starter, new wheel bearings, two windshields and door glass, four mounted tires/wheels; front grille, new brake cylinders, headlight tailight assemblies, and many more misc. parts.
A Bill of Sale, Carfax Vehicle History Report, Original Owner Manuals, and a Haynes Rabbit Shop/Service Manual will come with the sale. The Carfax Report shows that a prior owner reported the odometer exceeded its mechanical limits when rollingover 100,000 miles. Since the State of Maine DMV will not issue Titles to vehicles that are over 15 years old, I will include with the sale for any out-of-state buyer, a DMV Certification Letter verifying the truck is legally registered in the State of Maine. Will also include if needed, the current completed Maine registration signed and transferred over to the buyer (some states may require this in order to obtain a new Title in their state).
I do not have a 'But it Now' option with the auction, since I wish to let the auction just run its course. If the $3800 reserve price is met, I would consider delivering the truck to a convenient location within 100 miles.

Just wish to clarify about the veggie oil storage tank. The tank heater coil is included, but the truck has not yet been set up to run on veggie oil.
