The Rabbit Died!! 1984 VW Rabbit convertible. Rare 5th Ave Karmann edition made in Germany. 148,500 miles. Black with tan leather interior. The body is straight and the interior is in decent shape. The top opens without problems. ***It is an AUTOMATIC with a GAS engine.***
This is THE cutest car and perfect for the warm weather if you can get it going again!! I purchased it last summer for my daughter and had a major overhaul done to it, over $2,000 in work (I do have all of the paperwork receipts). It ran well up until about 7 months ago when it just up and died. We fear that it is the long block and it will probably need a NEW ENGINE. That is a weekend warrior mechanic's opinion but barring a miracle he's probably right.
I think, and so does my pocketbook, that enough $$ has gone into it and it is time for the rabbit and my family to part, no matter how cute it is.
WORK DONE: 8/07 -Replaced brake calipers and pads -Ignition tune up-4 cylinders: including replaced spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, spark plug wires, fuel filter, PCV valve and air filter -replaced all belts -repaired vacuum reserve tank and replaced vacuum supply fitting. 11/07 -rebuilt alternator -brand new gas tank -new fuel pump -new fan wiring
